310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Long shot here, but hopefully someone chimes in.

I have a stock Clarion CMD4 with JL audio speaks and amp (appears to be six channel model).

I was tracking down what I thought would be a bad speaker or wire but turns out it is one of the channels on the amp. The issue is I removed the RCA connectors and all the Y connectors to clean the old electrical tape adhesive (what a mess) and in the process I've completely lost track of how it was wired.

That said, I know the factory deck wiring setup and know that I both the gray and black RCAs were feeding the amp. Although its odd given they are front and rear feeds. I know the two front speaks are just directly feed and do not go through the amp. This allows the fader to isolate the front cabin speakers from the four rear (outside) speakers and subwoofer.

SO, the issue is I have SIX (three cables) RCA feeds, two Y connectors and 4 RCA outputs. Only two of the RCA cables go to the amp and feed channels 1 thru 4. Channels 5 and 6 are not used and the subwoofer is isolated by HP/LP filter sittings. So what the heck does the third RCA cable go to? Anything I directly plug into the third set do absolutely nothing to my knowledge. I've tried every variation to determine what and where it goes. In the end, I've used the two Y connectors to feed off the black pair of the RCA jacks and left the grey ones and the unknown third RCA cable alone.

I know it was connected as all of the connectors still have some of the black adhesive I'm cleaning off.

Owners manual diagrams do not help, know are showing the setup I have. The parts manual shows it as 1854218 STEREO, AMP JL 450W6/5/4/3 CH POWER AMP WHT setup. No wiring diagrams to support it.

PS Any chance there's a 2nd amp, but where? My current amp is in the rear of the cabin in the starboard couch area. I'm unaware of any other location to feed that third RCA cable or why.

I looked at my amp wiring this morning and being two model years newer, apparently they changed everything. My head unit is Sony, the amp is a 4 channel no-label brand using a level converter on input to accept speaker level output from the head.

In short, I was hoping to post a pic to help you out but I don't think it will:

Thank you for looking! Seriously, much appreciated.

So I finally traced my amp issue to a blown channel. Ordered a 6 channel JL Audio 600/6 to replace the stock JL Audio setup.

I couldn't figure out what the third RCA setup was for as it did not go to the amp. The original setup used four channels in and six (really 5 and 6 fed the sub) out. I didn't understand why they didn't take advantage of the purple RCA jacks to feed the 5/6 channels directly. So the black RCA outs I used the Y connectors and fed channels 1 - 4 and I ran another RCA cable for the sub to channels 5 and 6 (via the purple RCA jacks). Set the high low filters, adjust the sensitivity and less some fine tuner on the sub, it sounds amazing.

The new amp is a third the size and a fourth of the weight of the original amp and is 600 watts v. 450 watts. So far, turned out to a great upgrade.

The JL 600/6 is a great amp. I have three of them running twelve JL 7.7s and two 10" subs.

Holy amplifiers Batman, that has to sound like a stadium concert venue :) My next add will be some transom speakers on the gray outputs to a dedicated amp 2 channel setup. Nothing to blow out crowd, just focused rear facing speakers when we are floating on tubes and such.

I just replaced my JL Audio 600w 6 channel amp with a 5 channel 700w amp, and it sounds ridiculously awesome. I have the factory installed J:L Audio components and sub. The reason I got the 5 channel amp is because the extra 100w goes to the subwoofer, so it has 300w now instead of 200w from the factory. the HP and LP filters are much better on the new amps as well so the sound I cleaner.

Pictures of new Amps please?
I'd like to upgrade mine.

Thx

I discovered the ratings are a bit different. I think you're really pushing 60 watts for the 4 speakers and 180 watts for the sub. I'm pushing 75 watts to 4 speakers and 150 watts for the sub. I believe our speakers are 4 ohms and the subs were the same so the load they are pushing is different. That changes the ratings, but the Class D amps v. the A/B are just so much cleaner as you stated. I have the 600/6 and my sub is already much better, but I think I'm lacking the expertise to fine tune how the sub should really be set.

So what did you set you HP and LP filters at? Mine are all at 80 as suggested and my input sens is about 1/4 turn from max. I get no clipping or distortion even at that sitting, but I didn't want to max it out. I have the black outputs on my Clarion going to Y adapters to feed 1,3 and 2,4, while the purple sub out feeds 5-6 channels.

Can you share you setup/settings?

i have read in the past that if you give 12v power to cig. lighter by helm you can raise the engine hatch, i believe this was on a different model but wondering
if anyone has tried it on a 2007 310DA ? i had a bad bank of batteries recently and was able to lift the hatch by using cross over switch on helm but got me thinking about
jump starting if all the batteries were dead. thanks

I have not personally tried to charge via the 12VDC helm port, but my boat did come with a special cable having a cig lighter adapter on one end and battery ring terminals on the other. I always assumed this meant it's what the SR engineers had in mind...

Exactly... Male cig. Plug with battery cables on other end...
Cool thanks

Has anyone replaced the transom shower valve?
Mine has a slow leak. It seems the shut-off valves are not shutting all the way.

Thanks

I utilized the single RCA in setting, and used the input level adjustment to fine tune the amp. I set all the components to have the LP filter on the highest setting and the sub has the HP filter on the highest setting. To tune it I had a friend help me that used to install crazy sound systems n cars back in the day. We turned the inputs down all the way and turned the stereo volume all the way up to the highest setting. Then we turned up the inputs a channel at a time until it started to distort and the turned it back a little. Use different types of music, especially for the sub.

Hi does anyone know what size/style our navigation lights are ? Also while I'm asking the 2 lights above couch in ceiling (frosted glass ) I have been trying to find LED replacements but none have long enough pins to get past silver reflector. Thanks

I found them Tw-ge89-ww from marine beam it's a replacement for a ge89 bulb
Now to my next replacement - the bulbs in frosted over the mid couch, any LED replacement I have tried is either short on pin length or too wide for silver reflector. Anyone replace these?

Do you know where you got them or model #? , just don't want to order more bulbs that don't have long enough pins or ones that don't fit in that tight area in reflector. Thanks

Does any body Know the Location of the DSM300 on a 2009 sundancer 310, its not behind the Engine instrument panel. Thanks

...or ones that don't fit in that tight area in reflector...

If I remember correctly, I removed the metallic reflector (I recall it was retained only by the previous bulb) as the new LED elements I used were disc-shaped circuit boards where all light is directed downward already (unlike a standard bulb).
