310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Kaz, which Marine Max did the Servicing on your Boat??

East Venice, FL... I can't recommend at all.

Anyway.. I finally fixed the generator. My todo list keeps growing (1 thing fixed - 2 other breaks.)

So now outstanding..

* Slow Leak from starboard bellow into bilge. :-( (Thumbs down surveyor)
* Shower/AC sumpbox - new kit on the way (Crap quality - plastic is brittle after only 4+ years and float does not work)
* Clean up water everywhere - from A/C (see above) - and the compartment RIGHT under A/C has ZERO drain into other parts of the boat until it OVERFLOWS... and reach the end of the carpets.... (Stu*** Sea Ray)
* Cockpit Grill - heating element broken New on the way FOC from Kenyan!! (Thumbs up Kenyan - only paying shipping)
* My generator is not connected to VesselView (Stu*** Sea Ray)
* Broke midship berth - but FOUND THE STORAGE (Stu*** Sea Ray)
* Install SC1000 Taco's so I can see fuel flow from each individual engine (Stu*** VesselView)
* Try to pry electric diagrams from Sea Ray for cable routing on boats with Axius (Stu*** Sea Ray has not updated manuals AT ALL - absolutely ZERO documentation on SmartCraft routing. Plenty for "just" VesselView or "just" SC1000's - but NOTHING about the Axius installation which is very different)
* Replace Port Seacock which MM East Fl managed to break when they "Fixed it"

So I have a lot of things in the works....

Anyway - according to the manual there is storage under the midship berth (All 310/330 manuals from 2008->2012). So I got a bit "impatient' and pulled the mattress off. It was secured with two 3 inch long self tapping screws at the front - so I managed to pull them out...

But there under the mattress is 3 reasonable storage compartments. So now I just need to figure out how to reattach the mattress so storage becomes available. But they are only "visible" when bed is pushed in.

Someone in SR should try to read their own documentation!!

pheewww that was a long one. I have probably forgotten 1/2...

Ok, I have probably a stupid question, but how do you normally step down into your bilge? I have stern, 2x 6.2 l mpi with Koehler generator? I currently step on the electrical portion of gen and then onto generator exhaust! Is there an easier way?

Thanks in advance
Mike

I climb over and step down from the starboard fuel tank. But I am considering to put in a step on top of the generator exhaust "muffler"

Also have a question about storage under the sofa! Is the manual incorrectly mentioning that there is storage? How do I remove the couch to get to it?

Thanks
Mike

There are storage - but in mine the bed mattress was bolted on with 2 x 3 inch ss screws. I jacked them out by "accident"

The screws are in the front of the bed. So unless the sliding mechanism supports opening somewhere I think the only way in is brute force. So if you want to copy my accident - pull the bed all the way out and lift from the rear of the mattress. I'll see if I can post a picture tomorrow.

But there are so many mistakes in the manual...... They do not seem to have updated the manual from 2007 until 2012. I have zero documentation on the electrical system related to axius. Under the helm dash things are a lot different than any of the manuals show. My "old" 210 had updated manuals showing the correct wires for the only major change - but the big expensive 310DA has not had as nice an update cycle. :-(

Now, now Kaz calm down you'll blow another Gasket!!

Kaz is not mad... Kaz is disappointed...

One more thing missing in mine (but is in the manual) - non-return valve on the "first" bilge pump - does any of you have a valve there?

And here is a picture of the storage below the sofa (as indicated in the manual)

Kaz, thanks so much for the photo. This boat has a lot of "small" storage, but we were hoping that they would have a large storage there, say... For canvas! Oh we'll, it seems like we'll just leave the couch as-is!

Would you know what the plastic flat white pieces are for? 3 of them i think! Are they for the filler fusion up above in the cockpit?
Thanks in advance
Mike

the 3 white plastic bits are just supposed to stop the couch retractable wall from hitting the "non" movable wall. But someone forgot to put them the right place :) I think they was supposed to be in the "hollowed/cut" out section - since the cut outs in the wood fits the plastic bits.

And I found yet more brittle plastic today.. I checked the blower exhaust vents on port and starboard - and BOTH are so brittle the are crumbling with the least amount of "touch". But I think I'll redesign them and print my own "less noise" design on my 3D printer. But there are self tapping screws sticking out in the duct - I would have thought having "sharp" screw ends sticking out in child arm height would be a "lawsuit" waiting to happen in the US?

I am beginning to think I bought a Chinese clone of a Sea Ray ... :)

You may want to PM JimG. I could be wrong but I think I remember reading a post where he added a step a couple years ago. I searched but I couldn't find the post.

Hi Jason, I have the V-Drives so my setup is different. The step I have is factory... its directly over the port transmission. I had intended to post pictures of it, but never can remember to take them when at the boat.

How do you remove the tv from the Solon! Is there a trick to remove the tv from the black panel against the vinyl, or do I need to remove (unscrew) the black panel. Any help with the procedure would be great!

Thanks in advance!
Mike

In case your wondering, I forgot to mention that I want to replace the tv!

I think the only way is to take out the 4 screws. My TV is not straight - so I have been looking at what to do. And it looks like the only way in is via the 4 screws in the black panel.

I'm still looking for new TV's though. I want to go to HDMI & 12 volt (and PAL not NTSC) - since the LG TVs does not seem to like our local TV standards.

Thanks kaz! Hopefully they have stapled the vinyl and I won't have to restretch, etc! In short, hopefully it mounts back easily!

Also, does your DVD player need to be replaced because of pal vs NTSC? Also, how are you adjusting for 120 vs 220 on you boat?

Hopefully you're having more fun than I am..... Will have to shrink wrap next weekend!

I hope so too :) I'm going to take the DVD players out and put in more modern system :) so I'm thinking Apple TV or WD player with 1 to 2 hdmi switch.

I have an isolation transformer from Victron and everything I replace will be with 120/240 volt or 12 volt only. I'm planning to put in a 240 volt inverter so I can slowly migrate towards 240 in time.

And our season has just started :) so the next 9 months is cruising time ;-) plus planning to make some nmea2000 tools :) to do some smart boat monitoring. (Yes make not buy...) I think the current offerings are just .. Well behind the times :)

Issue with water getting into our cabin. I have the the boat on blocks for the winter. I haven't shrink wrapped yet as I still working on some things. I am getting rain thru the canvas thru the cabin door and into the cabin.

I will be putting a tarp to stop the water. I would expect the cabin door To be a little more water proof. Anyone else have issues with leaks?
