310 Sundancer Thread (2007 & newer)

Just had my Clarion head unit replaced with an Alpine and the power amps replaced with JL. I had the premium sound system option with the Polk Audio component speakers. I now want to upgrade the speakers, but have no idea how to get the cover panels off of my 2007 310DA. Any ideas?

Tug on the cover panels. Start anywhere you can begin to loosen the cover away from the arch, then continue prying/pulling around the edges until it pops off. I used my fingertips. FYI...they are secured with velcro adhesive pads.

Hi Jim g.

I'm looking to buy your exact boat. What is your cruising speed and top end speed? I'm concerned that the v drives will be too slow vs. stern drives.

Thanks,

Dan

I top out at about 34MPH/4800RPM... and that fine with me. I didn't move up to this boat for speed!

Hi All,

Moved up from a 2010 280 Dancer to a 2012 310. Took delivery this past friday. Is there dedicated storage for the v-birth table anywhere?

Thanks

Congratulations!

The 2012 310 is the older 290 in styling and features, so most of us here in this thread won't be able to help.

(Maybe we should rename this thread to 310 Sundancer (2007 - 2009) & 330 Sundancer (2010-2012) Thread)

Hi, Understood. Gets a little confusing. Looked under the cushions but didnt see an indent for the table, maybe the structure underneath lifts up.

My boat is almost here :) 1 hour from Abu Dhabi port.

Now if just Peters & May shipping can get the papers done as they should have 3 weeks ago.... Then I can get it through customs. This is getting darn exiting!

Hey Jim.. On a calm day on Summersville lake 34 mph is all she's got ?? I am also looking at a 2008 310DA with V-350 mag combo.. My 280 Dance withthe 496 mag will give me 44MPH GPS and I have a ton of stuff on my boat.. (most of which I don't really need ..cept the ice maker LOL

Great article that Jim references for our choice in drives. I have the V Drives and top out at around 36 with half tanks and a light load of butts in the boat - but, I may have been at WOT a grand total of 3 times since I've owned the boat. The choice really comes down to price, preference and where you boat. I will say this though, that inboards/V Drives can't be beat around the dock - especially in a crowded marina with a large audience on hand. You also get a very steady ride in a variety of sea conditions (as the article mentions), but the faster speeds, better fuel economy and top end on the stern drives make it a very popular choice. One thing to keep in mind - Axius is only offered on the stern drive boat. No Zeus for this size boat yet (other than thrusters as an option).

Cool Beans!!! Like a kid before Christmas!!

yes - and she has arrived :) Now on to anti fouling paint job and reassembly. Still does not have right paperwork for registration here due to Shipping Company blunder. But they should arrive within a week.

But what a lovely boat she is!

one question - I seem to have a 24 volt converter - what is the 24 volts for? (Fan in rear shore power connection "cabinet")

I have just bought a 2007 sundancer 310! The boat has a 18000 lb custom trailer with the boat! My question is whether my f350 crew cab non-dually 4x4 is going to handle this beast for short distances! If you trailer, please let me know!
Mike

Legally - I don't think so. IRL - not a problem for short distances. My Cayenne tows my 310DA without any problems. And the Cayenne is "approved" to tow 8000 LBS.

EDIT - and congratulations :) I just got my 2008 310DA so I know the feeling! :)

Looks Great Kaz... but your missing the "Mandatory" TV Dish bolted to the side!!

haha i'm not in a boat to watch TV :) but it does have 2... But I don't know if we have any OTA TV here.

But just had another BOAT moment. Found a small leak from bellows on starboard engine. :-( so pulling her next week. But I just finished fixing generator - so todo list is getting slightly shorter. I found impeller pieces everywhere in the cooling system - seems to be from a previous "impeller implosion" since there are more parts than the slightly broken impeller it had in it.

But one question. I seem to get vapor lock if starboard engine is hot - and I then idle for some time. Has any of you had that happen? After the Vapor Lock the engine wont start until it cools down.

And the boat seems to have been badly maintained from Marine Max. Every thing they have touched are not put together again very nicely. They even managed to break one of the Engine Sea Cocks while they repaired it "for me" before shipping. So my anger towards Marine Max is growing by the minute. I might have to get a lawyer involved.
