300 Sundancer questions.

Does anyone know how the blower vent covers on the aft port and starbord gunwhale are secured? Both of mine are loose, I think from the previous owner letting the bumpers press on them. I looked, but I did not see any bolts holding them on. Are they just held in place with white slilcon/caulking around the perimeter and the three middle supports along the bottom (circled in red)? The dealer recommended putting some "boat life" type caulking around the edges and under the supports to see if that would stick them back down. Sounds plausible, but I'm guessing there is more holding them on than that...

Thanks,
James

James, I believe a product similar to West Systems 5200 is used. I know it is a two part product. If mine come loose, I'm going to secure them with with SS screws. They are too damn expensive if they fly off when you are not looking.

Has anyone had to deal with the holding tank level probes on the 300? I have the 1/2 full light on after we pump out. I suspect there is some...uh stuff on the float causing it to hang up. I tried to pull the center probe out, however there isn't enough clearance to pull it straight up out of the tank. I shook the heck out of it, no luck. I may try pouring some Sealand toilet bowl cleaner down the probe this weekend to see if it will free it.

I ordered a Dometic universal probe that you can cut to the desired length just incase I need it. This is a job I only want to do once. Anyone else done this?

I have had my tank sensors out for inspection after the marina kid put gas in the waste tank. Unhook the electrical connector and unscrew the cap with the sensors to remove all at one time. Its not that bad of a job. The sensors are just float type sensors and can be ordered from Sealand. Check our owners pack for the manuals and their phone number. Give them a call, they were great with me about my gas problem. In the end all we had to do was pump the gas out with the overboard discharge pump, flush tank untill clean and rebuild discharge pump. The sensors were ok.

Thanks Kevin, I wish my system had the 3 sensors installed in the screw cap. Mine are individual probes held in place with rubber grommets. It'll be a challenge to get mine out. WoW, gasoline in the holding tank. Good reason to supervise or fuel you own boat!

Does anyone use their transom shower? My question about the transom shower is that the hose on my boat is incredibly stiff, to the point of not really being very comfortable to use and knuckle scraping to get the hose back in. Does anyone else have a hose as stiff as this, or, have you replaced it?

Yes, we use ours mainly to rinse the dogs off. The design is really crappy for storing the hose and can be a PITA. Ours is also stiff but does soften up a tad in the warmer summer months. I wonder if you replaced it with a softer hose if it would just bend trying to force it back in. It almost needs to be stiff to force it in that small hole.

Yes we use ours all the time. But we bought a self coiling hose and attached it to the water spigot that's in the transom compartment. Works great! Actually it's long enough to double as a anchor wash down when really needed.

Guys, thanks for replies... I too have the coiled hose for washdown attached to the spigot. It seems like you have the same issues with the stiff hose. Mine also has really poor pressure for some reason so I need to further look into that. I assume that's most likely due to some obstructions in the hoses. When I first bought the boat it was all moldy/mossy back in that compartment and I removed the panel and cleaned behind it, and flushed the hoses with part of the head removed to keep it from clogging. Now I'm wondering if I needed to disassemble it more.

Like you guys, I also have the coiled hose setup for washdown, works great. It is nice to use the hot/warm water from the transom shower after a dip though. The water is cold here in the PacNW! Terri, the water pressure on our transom shower is marginal at best but I have yet to find an obstruction in the hose. Another poor design issue I believe. Let us know if you ever replace the hose and find a difference.

I didn't see any pink last weekend when I cleaned the trough where the bilge pumps are. I don't know how the hell you could get in there to replace a bilge pump much less try to clean, dry and repair between the engines.

Hi All,
So finally getting back to trying to find a table for my Plan B couch-style dinette. Wanted to see if anyone has a curved / kidney bean shaped table in their 300DA. Everything I can find indicates that the table looks like the one below which is rounded rectangle. Sea Ray is telling me that the table for my 2005 300DA is actually supposed to be a curved table.

Also, could someone verify that the dimensions of the rectangular table is 32.5" L X 17.5" W X 1.25 thick? Thats what was indicated earler, but just want to confirm as I may have one made by a local woodworking shop.

James, Do you have the same cresent shaped couch as in that picture? If so, mine is the same rounded rectangle and the same dimensions too. (32.5 x 17.5 x 1.5) If you look at the SR site and pull out the brochure for 2005 you will see it's the same table as I have. Not curved. Brian

Yes. Have the same rounded couch as both of you. Kinda makes me want to order direct from the dealer to see if a curved table shows up because he's emphatic that's what I should have. Seems like I could get a nice one made for less than $385 though. I guess I'll get an estimate using those 32.5 x 17.5 x 1.5 dimensions and see what it comes out to be. It's always interesting to me looking at these pictures, and how much variation there is even among boats of the same class / year. I have a small flat screen to the right of the galley where looks like Bel_mar has that as a cabinet. I also dont think my fridge in the galley has a front that matches the cabinets, but is black. I might be thinking of the cockpit fridge though. Anyway, thanks for the photos and for confirming the measurements.

Actually looking more closely... it looks like Brians flatscreen is on the forward facing side of that cabinet, as you can see it reflecting in the mirror foward of the bunk. Thats interesting because mine faces the dinette and somewhat aft, where Brian has a cabinet door facing that way. On mine the entire shelf extends out and then the mount rotates around toward the fwd bunk.

Did you mod yours Brian or is that how it came?
