Very nice...love the updated framework with the extra headroom over the stock convertible top. Looks like you might have some radar related issues though :wow:

It just clears about 1" of clearance. Next I need to update my electronics a nice dome would be nice.

if you haven't read it yet go check put the 4 blade vs 3 blade thread. very compelling story for switching to 4 blades on our 290's

Speaker recommendations? Would like to keep them the same size. What ever size that is was told they are not 6.5. Thinking about cutting the hole bigger for a 6x9. Has anyone done that?

There are so few 6x9 marine speakers, did you have something in mind? I went with the 7.7" JL Audio speakers and like them a lot.

Did you have to cut the hole bigger?

which is the port battery? I have one on the port side behind the generator, and two on starboard. Which one powers the port engine? All electronics work fine except port engine. Will start with emergency switch, but then port gauge slowly drops until....not enough power to crank port engine.

I have 3 batteries total. one on the port side, two on the starboard. 1995 290 Sundancer. Which is house? which is port motor, which is starboard motor? My port motor battery is going dead. Out for a cruise, I can watch the port gauge slowly go from 12v to 11v to 10v and then not enough to crank the port motor. Will start with "emergency" jump switch. All three batteries were just replaced. I need to find a loose connection, or wire not connected. Which battery should I look at?

May want to get that port battery checked to see if its OK. I see you said it was just replaced but it would not be the first time a bad battery was sold as new. If that checks OK, the port alternator would be the next suspect I'd look at. Just my guesses.

Port Battery = Port Engine. If its like mine port battery does nothing except start the engine and hold the memory on my stereo.

Hi all! I'm new owner of a 1994 290 - loving it! It's in good shape for it's age, but I need to put a new canvas on it, stat. This is my first boat, and so I am still learning all the maintenance tricks - anything in particular I should be on the lookout for?

Welcome... You've got a great boat. But the first thing I would suggest is that you find out what engine(s) you have since your info says "not sure".

If you have twins, most likely you have Mercrusier carb'd 4.3L's with Alpha 1 Gen II outdrives unless somebody has done some replacement or upgrades.

Next suggestion would be to consider replacing the framework for your top along with the canvas. I you have the factory design its horrible. Fortunately thats the only real negative for the Mid-90's 290 in my opinion.
