This is the third summer with our 280 Sundancer. I really thought I knew every nook and cranny of the boat.

Yesterday wile playing with the kids in the mid birth I found the secret storage compartment.

Until yesterday I thought the only storage in the mid birth was behind the two mirrors.

Who hoo!

PS If you know where it is, don’t post it. Its more fun to let each individual boat owner to go thru this process of discovery.

there are actually TWO secret storage areas in the mid berth. 3 in the V-Berth, 1 at the dinette.

I’m not sure if I would call any of the other compartments “secret.”

Yes, at the V birth you lift the cushions and each has storage below.

At the small table to port under each seat is storage unless you have air conditioning then one has the A/C unit and the other is storage.

In the mid birth you see the buttons / knobs at the corners of the mirrors and they look like all the cupboards buttons so it’s obvious there is storage behind them.

The secret storage compartment in the mid birth is not obvious; at least it wasn’t obvious to me.

BTW, if you count each mirrored door as a storage compartment then the mid birth has three storage compartments.

I didn't say obvious compartments... SECRET!!!!!!! keep looking. Oh, requires a screw driver.

Screw driver? secret compartments? Are we crossing boarders with somthing?

yup, I think I found that one by accident while having a go with the misses... good thing those are padded huh?

Sweet! I never thought to look there.

.

Did you find it yet?

PS: Our secret mid birth storage compartment has suddenly become full of kids toys but now the storage behind the mirrors in the mid birth has room. I need to quick put some stuff there before someone else does or I’ll lose the space.

My problem is that if I find a secret compartment..If I put anything in there,I will forget about it and then it's lost forever.

Yes, I did find it today. I read your post just before we set out for the afternoon and told my wife about my quest to find it.

I'm not telling the kids about it. Might be a good place to stash some cigars.

Congratulations!

It’s amazing that this has never come up at this board before.

My last discovery before this one was when I found the secret swing out leg under the pull out sun cushion (not the aft drop down seat) in the cockpit. We never use the swing out leg but this storage compartment in the mid birth will get used.

This is news to me too. Is there a support leg for the slide-down lounger?

.

Yes.

To see the support leg you need to open the recliner / lounger so its extended then lie down on the floor and look up.

It swings out and provides support to that one corner of the lounger.

Outside of when I clean the cockpit we never seem to open the recliner.

you guys need to get on your hands and knees more.

Now you have me wondering if I'm missing any compartments on our 260DA. There is no storage in the mid-berth on our boat that I am aware of.

I was thining the same thing...

The 340 has a hidden storage compartment in the mid berth too. I keep: 1 case of water, 3 cases of beer, 4 12-packs of soft drinks in there. I can access all of them without moving the others out. That's a lot of hidden space. It's perfect because they are out of sight, stay a little cool in the Summer and don't freeze in the Winter.

Have not spent much time in the mid-berth. Help us out a little here. We need more space.

Diddo! Someone PM me! I don't want to start going crazy with a screwdriver before I know which screws! : )
