Where is the location of the step down pump in the 270DA? I'm going to do a 2nd viewing soon and would like to know where the hatch is.

There is one bilge pump in the engine room and two bilge pumps forward in the cabin areas of our 270DA.

The first is located in the mid cabin up against the fwd bulkhead of the engine room.
If you lift the filler cushions there is a board on top that lifts off. There is also a door for storage in front of this lift off board.
Inside this compartment is a sub floor that lifts out and the pump is underneath that.

The second is located just as you step down into the cabin. There is a panel in the floor that lifts out with the pump directly underneath.
Water also drains into this compartment from the shower and is then pumped overboard. Not the greatest design.
Something on my spring to-do list, adding a sump box in here so shower water is pumped out separately and the bilge area stay dry here.

It may have changed through the 270 model years to only one in the cabin.

I hope this helps.

Ya what? Not sure if we r talking the same language but Maybe u mean the bilge pump in the cabin for the shower sump? If so it's in the rear cabin against the rear bulkhead under the cushions

It would help if we knew what year you were asking about.

As for the "pimp location" he usually hangs out at the bar while waiting... :wow: :smt043

Sorry gentlemen, it's been a long day..! This really cracked me up when I just realized i pimped it out....

It is a 1988

Thank you for your input! Anyone ever have any issues in these areas with the drains or the mid cabin bilge areas?

No drain issues but part of my spring project is replacing the small aft wall of the forward bilge area (where the shower drains).
PO never cleaned the area out an the wood was always waterlogged.
Now that it has dried it became brittle and crushed when I stepped there last year.

Mid cabin bilge area stays dry.

I've never had any problems, but that said if the boat is equiped with A/C it's where the raw water pump and sea cock is, I'd definately check the sea cock, strainer and pump. the worst part is that if you get water in there you'll never fully pump it all out since the drain is higher then the bilge pump, so once you turn off the pump the water comes back down the outlet tube right back into the bilge, so you have to sponge it out or there will always be water sitting in there.

I would like to see photos of how you accomplished this. I would also like to keep that bilge area free of any water. It sucks having to pump out what re-drains when pump turns off...
Thanks
