Well guys, Thanks for the insite. The trailer I bought is a Venture and it only has two bunks. I don't know if I should add more... Thoughts?

Not sure. More bunks might help for centering the boat. Do you mind me asking what kind of $$ they get for that trailer?

Thanks. Not a bad price.

I called Venture Trailer, and that was the same question I asked. Their reply was two bunks is sufficient. Their example was how marinas use the "shelving" systems for winter storage as the boats are only suported on the two rails. Venture uses 3" thick by 8" wide support bunks.
I think I will add keel rollers even for a piece of mind so I don't bang the bottom of the boat on one of the three crossbars...Yikes!

The problem I see is that a rack system it isn't bouncing , ifyou are only using it as storage then it would be fine but look at any trailer andthey all are supported by the keel and the sides are more for stability. Alsomost bunks lay flat like Just ME’s and he has keel support. The bunk trailer Ihad for my Formula had rollers on all the cross supports and bunks on the side.I would also get an electric winch to keep from wearing your arm and back outloading. Are the bunks adjustable?

Hey all-

Quick question- I just purchased a Lowrance Elite-7 plotter/sounder and I want to transom mount the transducer. I have the lake dual transducer. I am in west end of lake Erie/Maumee river and I seldom boat in water over 30'.

Is there anything boat specific about a transom position for the mount I need to know before I start drilling holes?

Any tips, no matter how trivial, would be appreciated. I have extensive mechanical experience but not with boat mechanics so any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Thanks

doug

I mounted mine on a piece of delrin so I could move it or mount more stuff without punching more holes in my new transom.

Also, it may not be pretty, but I run my wires around the swim platform and into the boat at the highest point possible.

New Question for help.... I thought I would ask this engine question here rather than the "engine" section as I am hoping for some folks to chime in who have the same boat. I have an"88 268 with 454 and Bravo II drive. I want to change the seawater impeller, but not sure quite how. I ordered a manual and I've looked on CSR for assistance. There is plenty of information on how tight the area is to get at, using ratchet wrenches, lying on a pillow on top of the engine, etc. I'm looking for the "How to" advise, and tips for replacing this impeller. As always....thanks in advance for all the great people here on CSR!

Seawater impeller? Are you talking about the water pump impeller in the lower unit? I have the Alpha1 Drive and the impeller is in the lower half of the lower unit. Not sure about the Bravo drives...

Bravo's have them belt driven and under the engine - nothing in the outdrive.

No real easy way to get to them and the belt is really short.
Make note of which way the impeller is twisted in before removing so you get the rotation right.
Taking digital pics of everything as you go along helps for something to reference back to if needed.
Be sure to inspect for cracks in the plastic housing around the hose attach points - just a precautionary measure.
I've had an outlet snap off on our race boat and she pumped alot of water in there quick.

Thanks for the information. I'll be changing the impeller within the next week or two....
