My first post here after lurking for weeks reading about 1000 posts here in the Sport Boat forum.

We just pulled the trigger on a new "old" stock 2008 260 Sundeck that's being shipped into Minneapolis from a dealer that went OB in Ohio.

We're waiting for ice-out on Lake Minnetonka (which will be awhile) so we're keeping busy by coming up with a name for the new vessel.

Here's what we've come up with so far...

Wii Boat
Landshark
Rio
Hugh Jass
Shazaam
Just Say Maybe
Shake Me
Interweb
Crazy Biatch
Wake It Easy
Knot Workin'
Skoolz Out

What do you think?

Could always go with a long standing tradition of naming it for your girl/wife. My 240SD is named MS Judy.

Something personal is always good. Something like a common saying in the family, or something related to your job/work, (and/or the fact that you're not working).

Just remember, as funny as dirty boat names are (such as Hugh Jass, Crazy Biatch, Suck My Wake, etc) are... remember that you may be hailing harbormasters/ports using your vessel name. This could be a little bit uncomfortable. Also, if another vessel is hailing you, that may be awkward too.

Good luck.

By the way, we used to have a 220 Sundeck. Looked into the larger ones before we went for the 270 Select EX. Sundecks are great, you'll love it.

One of the things I have found interesting about boating in general is that people may or may not remember your name, but they remember your boat name and refer to it regularly. I cannot tell you the number of times an opening conversation at the marina or on another dock has started with a reference to our then boat name. Sometimes I forget the names of people...but how do you forget "Reward", or "Black Pearl", or "Mood Swings" or "Everything's Erie"?

At the end of the day, its for you and your family. Although I would be amused, I just can't imagine my wife or 18 year old daughter enjoying someone hollering "Hey! 'Hugh Jass'!".
