260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

My boat guy says he can pull power from the windlass and use a wireless remote to make it quick & dirty, and easy. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but sounds reasonable.
Sounds like a good solution if I follow through on this boat. Thanks for the idea.

My mirror in the head has a hinge on top. Does this thing open?

It will open (lift up) if you pull hard at the bottom where it is Velcro'd in place. But there is nothing behind it except for the wall. Sea Ray mounted it this way just to keep it securely in place and (probably) lessen the chance of it breaking.

just glad i found out there's nothing back there worth breaking the mirror for (trying to get it open).

I have pulled on my mirror pretty darn hard and it doesn't give. I'm not going to pull any harder cause I'm pretty sure it'll break.

Or worse the velcro crumbles and the sea ray part number for that is obsolete.

I have a 2002 260 with the 5.0. I need to add a hd TV and blu Ray for the kids. Is it better to buy 12 volt versions (more expensive) or ac versions and get a good power inverter? Led tv's seem to use little power. For the power inverter - any recommendations? Thanks

We bought a 12v skyworth last year w/ built in DVD and it has performed flawlessly. Routed the sound through the stereo speakers and it is fantastic.

New to the forum...
I have a 2002 260DA and trying to track down a complete copy of the owner's manual. The Sea Ray site only has a supplement and a parts manual. Can anyone direct me to a source to obtain a complete version?
Thanks very much!

I found mine on the sea ray site. I had to locate the supplement elsewhere though. Should be able to put in your hull number and name to get the manuals.

Mines in my back yard under a cover right now waiting for spring.

Mine is in the shop trying to get the blisters fixed for the third year in row.

Mine is winterized, covered, and hibernating in its "cave." New steering wheel installed Saturday. About 2 months or so and she will be back in the water.

Mine is on the Brokerage list.

I am a newbie to this forum so be gentle. I just purchased a 2005 260 DA and have a few questions for you veterans. My boat has the 496 engine and I am wondering about pros and cons to this engine. I understand that this boat has a tippy sensation and is quite sensitive to the trim tab adjustments - any pointers or suggestions? Also, this boat has the JRC 1800 radar chartplotter system. I was using a Lowrance HDS7 2nd Gen in my previous in my previous boat and have never had radar. What do I need to know and what will I be missing between the two?

Thanks in advance
