If I ever resolve my low water pressure issues, I'll re-focus on how tough it is to find the right trim settings for this boat. I'm on plane showing 3 for trim......then the listing starts......i find myself doing a lot of trim tab adjusting and something just doesn't seem right....any suggestions
?

Is this your first experience with tabs? It takes a second or two for the boat to react to your input. Little taps... be patient... give it a few seconds to see what it does. If you press and hold the tab button until you see the boat reacting, you held it too long.

Please read this posting http://clubsearay.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18962

This problem has come up numerous times in the past because of the unique issues that the newer 260DAs have comming on plane. Pay special attention to my advice on how to use your outdrive trim and tabs because it sounds like you are creating your own problems. If you have more questions after looking at that post, give a holler and I'll try and answer them.

Dave,

thanks for the post. looks like we have the same boat, down to the color" good taste.

I'm already where you suggested in terms of process (blind luck) and guess that now it's just a matter of practice.

It just seems that every time I make a turn, or the wind changes appreciably, I'm back to adjusting the tabs.

On another topic, I'm trying to run at below 4000 rpm more so as not to push the engine too hard than anything else. Does that make any sense to you? It's not a speed boat, and a couple more mph doesn't solve world hunger for me.........

As far as rpm goes, I always try and run below 4000 RPM since it is easier on the engine. Based on my fuel computer, you also get the best fuel mileage below 4000 rpm with 3800-3900 rpm being the sweet spot.

I agree with Dave here....my 260's gph sweet spot is 3900 rpm.

28 mph at 12.8 gph....best I can do with the family on board.

Trim all the way up....no tabs.

I'm also on 3900 RPM when running. May go down to 3700 or so, or as high as 4100 or so, but normally under 4000. You can usually hear the difference in sound between under 4000 and above 4000.
