Anyone know if the white carry-on cooler is a standard item for the 220 Sundeck (2006 model anyway), or is it optional or sometimes missing or replaced by something else when the boat is purchased (e.g., trash can)? I'm talking about the one that sits in the tracks in the storage closet forward of helm.

Thanks,
JB

If your missing yours find out the capacity and you can pick one up at West Marine or any place that sells marine Igloo coolers. I had to get one this spring for my 280 due to the fact that last fall I lent the original to one of my kids... nuf said...

Yes. Thanks, I saw that listed. But I also looked in the Parts Manaul from the website, and it shows both a trash can and a cooler. So I'm wondering if the boat comes with one or the other. In other words, if an original owner doesn't have the cooler, is it because he lost it or because he never actually had one.

Sorry to waste folks' time w/ something so trivial. I'm buying a 220 and I'm trying to understand why the cooler would be missing.

The previous owner probably has it sitting in his garage...

Both items should be included. As River stated, they are standard Marine Igloo coolers. Also a standard looking trash can.

My 07 came with both can and cooler. The damn cooler doesn't have a drain plug (WTF)....

Check out the 200 Sundeck thread and see the modifications done to the hinges so you can actually open the cooler without removing it

"MARINE" coolers don't come with drain plugs, marine usually means fishing cooler and if that sucker pops open accidentally you don't want that smelly stuff all over your boat now do ya?? :smt009 ck. at west marine, of all the coolers they sell the ones marked MARINE don't have drain plugs

Good point. I only use my cooler to store beer, pop, wine and some food but I do understand. I was thinking about adding a drain and some length of hose to drain her into the bildge area. I can't stand it when there is 6" of water and my sandwich gets soggy. Maybe I should invest in a seperate 'food' cooler.

I thought the 220SD had a built in cooler like the 240SD has in the bow that drains into the bilge?

It does however we are talking about the cooler that you carry-on and is stored under the captain's console.

I thought it did, I was referring to your comment about a place to store the food so it would not get wet. We use ours front/built in cooler for that very purpose.

Good Idea. My only complaint about the front build in cooler is that it seems to take quite some time to cool down, and melts ice very quickly.

Big ditto:thumbsup: It is definitely a short term cooler. One of the problems with it draining into the bilge area on the 240SD you end up with about a quart or 1/2 gallon of water that stays in the big ski locker too. Not sure if you have this problem on the 220 or not? You may not have even checked it. The back drain on the storage locker is about 1" above the bottom of the locker. Sea Ray put a holding area (if you want to call it that) so that junk (Leaves, etc) would not end up in the bilge area. I keep a wet-vac on board so I can suck it out and keep it dry.

The 220 only has one (fore) ski locker and it runs all the way back to the fuel tank. I believe that the 240 has two ski lockers. I have not noticed any water in my ski locker however I would have to look very far back to see anything. It's pitch black there so I would need a flashlight to see anyhthing. I don't really like the ski locker on the 220. I put my fenders in there once and I had a hell of a time getting them out as they were way back there. I really wish Searay would have put an access hatch towards the back of the locker!

Here is what I'm talking about on the 240SD.

I've got the locker mat pulled up and you can see there is about a 17"x6" holding area at the back. Notice the drain is about 2" off the floor of the locker.
And before anybody says any thing I'm cleaning the floor. :) Don't you just love GA red clay.
