2023 Springtime Shine thread

Are you sure 1500. I know there is a 1000 cut ? Not familiar of 1500

Are you using a 3M pad if not you should and use the yellow pad

Smoove 1000 is a medium aggressive compound….. if you have very light very light oxidation it works okay

I prefer this a German product.

With smoove products, if you have a really good base their product line is very easy and good at maintaining it.

Plus you can use smoove products on you car. As long as it looks like a boat :)

1000 correct thx. rob

If you're using their compound you should expect swirls. You need to follow the compound with a polish (Smoove Bubble Gum) to remove the swirls. I use white presta pads for compounding, green for polishing.
thx will give it a try.

First time using smoove 1500 not getting the results I was hoping for probably operator error. any special techniques?
getting swirl marks on gelcoat. it is a very dry product. white wool pad. low setting to start then speed up a bit. thx for help.
I agree with Stee6043, the compound will get any dull or oxidized areas broken down and you will see swirls. Then apply the Bubblegum polish to create the shine you’re looking for. Last year I compounded the entire boat including non-skid and then polished with BG. The key is to use their wash soap or someone else’s for cleaning the boat during the season. That way the polish stays on. I’m a big fan of the foam cannon for applying soap. You shoot it on, wait a few minutes and spray off. No scrubbing needed unless you got bird bombed. Last fall when pulling the boat for winter storage it looked in great shape. All I needed to do this off season was polish again. Carpel tunnel and tennis elbow is calling your name….Good Luck!

Maybe you need a new snake oil?
If your boat doesn’t shine after compound, you are doing something wrong. Polishing after compound should take that shine to a glow.
If the product is too dry or flashing off maybe try a mister of water? Is your pad getting completely gummed up? Lots of unanswered questions

No snake oil needed here, Smoove does just fine. Here is pic from 2024 Springtime Shine thread.

after 2nd pass with polish shining very nicely, thanks all for the help. going in thursday!
You need to seal your gel coat after polishing. Either traditional wax or some other sealant( ceramic, etc)
