2023 Haul Out

Took a weekend trip 2 weekends ago, last planned one of the year. Docked back at the home slip in 30MPH NW gusts blowing me into the slip, and sides, and in mud, not fun.

Went to The Yards Marina in DC (homeport for @PlayDate ) thanks for your help:

Stored for the last few years with a individual that had a building of the years we had a few red flags. His business partner dusted every ones boat with fiberglass dust . The marina that managed the building closed shop . The new marina price didn't include transport which made it a grand more then the years before. On top of that we went up to the boat to find there was no electric and it's heated storage. This year we're going to store with Pier 53 in Catawba Is. Ohio. for cost less and less worries.

Peace - Out.

Lotta cold days lately round these parts. I’m still perfecting my winter frame for tarp but string of rainy days making it protracted endeavor. Sunny and dry tomorrow.

What VHF radio (I think that's what that is) is that in your 3rd pic?

Love that year and model, good looking boat.
Sorry for the delayed response but this site was too frustrating so I had to take a couple day hiatus…. that is indeed my replacement vhf radio. It is a Raymarine Ray63 Dual Station VHF Radio w/GPS with custom trim plate from Boatoutfitters;
Thickness 1/4" Color Dolphin Gray (Not Available in 3/8" or 1") Height 4 1/2" Width 8" Cutout Height 3" Cutout Width 7" Cutout Radius 1/4" Roundover Edges 1/8" (One Side) Radius Corners 1/8" 1$45.74
I bought the radio from BOE. It has AIS capabilities and is such an upgrade compared to the OEM radio, but let’s face it we’re talking about 23 year old equipment. What 23 year old technology are you using at home? Most likely none, time to pull the trigger and keep the hand held for emergency situations or when on the dinghy.:)

Sold, I like it, a lot, thanks.

Just double check your measurements, don’t go by mine. I think my old radio was a 220.

Very nice trip and video. Thanks for posting.

Anyone store boat on trailer outdoors? I’m thinking of at least getting some boards under tires since this marina insists on putting boats on trailers in the grass so the hard lot is available for boats on stands. I think it would be better for tires.

For what it’s worth, the boat is out and done. Zodiac and Suzuki came home yesterday, comfortably in the house and warm for the winter. I got thru the whole summer without any repairs needed on anything. Thank you Jesus. First repair free summer.
But i am glad its out and over for 6 months, transitioning to Medicare, wife retiring in December. Got other stuff to focus on. Whats the song, Comfortably Numb. Thats me right now.

Haven’t seen an update, how’s the Mrs doing?

Very very well, full mobility. Loves her new car. Retiring 12/22, informed work. We got her setup last week with railroad retirement. (Found out even if she never worked for RR all spousal retirement goes thru railroad retirement not SSA). Things are moving well.
I will say, at our age, we rented a uhaul van yesterday to bring home the zodiac and Suzuki and hauling it from the water to van to house kicked our ass.
Beginning to think maybe its time to sell it. Will decide come spring. I loved my quiet weekday mornings alone on the river, just don’t know if the juice worth the squeeze by next year.

Spent my last 2023 night on the boat last night. Had a couple beers and watched the Leafs beat the Stars. Really peaceful. It stayed about 60 degrees overnight so no heat needed and it was really quiet. Not many boats left in the water. Rainy this morning but in the low 60s again. I’ll miss her over the winter.

We hauled on Wednesday. I changed oil all around and winterized everything but the mains in the slip. Still need to go over to the ,Ariana and winterize the mains. I’m debating whether to shrink wrap. Will be on the hard till April and if I get around to replacing electronics over the winter the shrink wrap will be in the way of dealing with the radar. Also haven’t got a quote yet to shrink wrap. What‘s the going rate these days for a boat like this?

Bottom looks pretty good. What paint do you use? Where located?
First with the boat, so I’m not sure. It spent the last year in FL and had a diver clean the bottom every month. The yard is doing the bottom this winter. It’s in Crisfield, MD now.

Only had the new boat in the water for a Sea Trial, then off to winter storage before all the spots are gone! My main spot only had one spot left but the door was 9'3" (I need 9' 6" clearance). Fortunately my second and last indoor place had some spots left - man that was a tight fit! Buildings are locked with no access until spring.
