2013 NFL Playoff Predictions And Discussion.

BTW, I am soooo happy that everyone expects Green Bay to win. It could be a really good game that I am nervous about but being a favored underdog (is that possible?) makes it that much better.

Pats beat Texans
Broncos kill Ravens
Seattle wakes up and the Falcons win
49ers and Packers is a toss up but obviously I hope SF wins!

San Francisco, no one else matters.

Even Ravens fans didn't predict this...

...none of us saw the Packers getting beat down, except as noted. Good call for the homers....

Was hoping to see Peyton advance.
Hate that I'll have to hear Ray Lewis run his trap for another week.
Glad to see Clay Mathews exposed again.
If Tom Brady avoids choking the Patriots have a cake walk toward a Super Bowl win.

My predictions....
We're headed to Seattle tomorrow a.m. and will attend the Seahawk's sendoff ceremonies in Renton. Here's my predictions.....

Seattle 31, Atlanta 28
Green Bay 27, SF 17
NE 38, Houston 24
Ravens 28, Broncos 20

W
ell, I was wrong on the Packers, right on the Ravens. Let's hope my next two are right on.

Tired of hearing Peyton as well…. BTW how did he do, two picks and a fumble was it. 14 tackles for Ray and the super Denver defense got bombed, literally out of their house!

I don't want to see anymore of Tom Brady than I have to during the reg season I'm hoping they send him on vacation today.

Hmmmmmmm, thought I was right about Denver winning. What do you think about our QB now? RG-who?

Well, I think I'll open up a can of worms today. Ray Lewis is a GREAT, GREAT football player. He will go down as one of the best ever to play between the lines. With that being said, I think many football fans give more respect to the ones that carry themselves with humility and grace. Reggie White, Barry Sanders, Alan Page, Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, Johnny Unitas come to mind. And, keeping it in context, he's in the same class as these guys when it comes to impact on the game and talent. But, it's all about himself and therefore, personally, its hard for me to believe Lewis when he gives "all the glory to god".

Nothing grates on me more than every jacka$$ player today who thinks they should be the center of attention after every play they make. Who cares if they missed 5 tackles on the drive before, didn't fill the gaps or missed an assignment on a reverse that converted a key 3rd down, or...better yet...are behind by 5 touchdowns late in the 4th quarter. Lewis' "show" last week just further proved "it's all about Ray". A bow at the 50 yard line to all the fans would have been classy but the spectacle as time was running out was another story. There's no humility here. And thats a shame because the Ravens have a helluva football team, rabid fans and a coach with alot of class.

Now, I hope I'm wrong. I hope for his sake, that whatever involvement he had in the 2000 murders that included a conviction & several out of court settlements, that he has truly turned his life around and isn't a thug many have made him out to be. But, damn it, when you're in front of millions and millions, carry yourself with some dignity vs. making it all about you. Walk the walk.

It seems as though Mr Lewis stages video cameras for his "moments" such as when the game was over yesterday. On his knees, overwhelmed with emotion and 2 or 3 cameras on him to memorialize. He seems disingenuous to me but that's just my opinion. That being said, he was a helluva linebacker for a long time and does know how to motivate "his" players.

My friend and I were saying the same thing last night while the 49s were running all over Green Bay. Stop posing after every good play and show some class. This starts with the young QB. I hope that he is coached up to stop posing and taunting. He needs to be more like Frank Gore (who is similar to Barry Sanders in how he acts) and realize that he is the leader of the offense and needs to grow up and act like it. Dude is fast as hell though huh?

Kaepernick put on a heckuva perfomance. I know I didn't realize he had that kind of athletic ability. I first thought Harbaugh was nuts when I heard about him sticking with the rookie vs. smith who was having a very solid year (and last year playoff perfomance) but the kid does look special. All of these rookie QB's are about the craziest thing I've seen in awhile. The niners look awfully tough. but so do the Ravens and the Pats will of course be tough to knock off. I'm not a believer in the Texans, Falcons or Seahawks yet...they all have great talent but can they handle big game pressure....

Seahawks scare me for obvious reasons but I would rather play them in SF than go to Atlanta even though I see Seattle as a better team than Atlanta.

Maybe, just maybe the camera is focused on him. Having been to many games, there are a lot of things going on at the sidelines that the camera could focus on if they so desire. Just like last week, when the head coach walked over to Ray when he came off the field on defense and told him to put his helmet back on and go out for the victory formation. That was the coach’s plan not Rays, and it had nothing to do with winning a game, but more of a tribute to Ray and the fans of Baltimore. I guess you would just have to live in Baltimore to realize all of the things that Ray, and the rest of the team does for the city of Baltimore. The Ravens represent the city of Baltimore well, and we are damn proud of them, all of them!

When I think of Ray Lewis I think of Rod Carruth. There is no questioning his football talent and intensity and everything he brings on football Sundays but I could never root for the guy because of his ties to those Atlanta murders so long ago. See this article:

http://kdvr.com/2013/01/12/ray-lewis-retirement-party-is-linebackers-legacy-greatness-or-murder/

It's amazing how so many people can just forget what this man was involved with and annoint him as some saint and franchise saviour. To this day I can't see him on the TV without thinking "What was his involvement with those murders? Did he stab or just cover up?" We will probably never know but in my book he is worse than any of the "Steroid Era" players that were just skipped over in the Baseball Hall of Fame balloting.

Wow, the discussion part of this thread just hit a new level...

Great points on both perspectives concerning Ray Lewis. I cannot believe, that in all the adoring articles I read, the mainstream sporting press has failed to mention the double murder issue at all.

Another media failure, not surprised...

Not really a fan of either Atlanta or Seattle, but the call that Seattle did not get he ball snapped before the end of the half was wrong as I see it. I ran it frame by frame in HD and the ball was gone and the clock still had the 1 showing in the second screen. This should be reviewed and the play stand.

MM

I know, I know, they blew the whistle. Then they need a clear visible and audible notification the half or game has ended.
