So last year we had a pretty successful rendezvous with several members coming here and running around the San Juan Islands and Canadian Gulf Islands and half the group headed up to Cananda's Desolation sound.

So, this is a feeler thread to see who may be interested in coming? I know it's a lot of planning to trailer up/over here, if you are out of the area but it's beautiful boating. Or, if you'd like to fly in an charter a SeaRay(or other boat) I can look into that too.

So I'll kick this off as I did in '07 for '08's trip a year in advance.

Who thinks they may be into it?

Todd, I'd be very interested. We've always wanted to do a trip over there.

Hey Mike
I know your fine vessel's up for sale and a year's a long way off, but would you think of bringing her here or chartering something?

Oh, chartering something. Would cost way too much to ship a boat for a week cruise.

Yeah. I agree. I know the California contigent from last trip towed up but that's not too bad compared to NY. I'll speak to the local dealer and see what we can do for SeaRay charter boats. What size would you want? It would be great to have you out.

something big enough to sleep 2, has a head, maybe a little fridge...

It's a year away, but we would like to get involved in at least a portion of the trip....

Sounds good. We can gather all who are interested and make sure we give people time to plan then come up with a loose itinerary.

We're interested - very! We had to miss 2008 because of a wedding in the family. 2009 not a good year with a down economy. If I can survive my California State Worker 15% furlough, 2010 looks pretty good.

Sounds good. The more the merrier and those that wish to come from far away, I'll do my best to get you any information you may want/need.

I know there will be a few local boats, including Mark "BillCollector" aboard Lina Lina, and a few I'm also inviting from the local forum I belong to, iboatnw.com. I'm hoping we get a few of you guys like Mike "TurtleTone" who would like to come from around the country.

Sounds like fun... if a guy pulls up from Portland is there a place that I could park a trailer?

I sure appreciate all the great stuff on the board. Nice to see that you have the same boat as we do, any odd stuff happen with yours?

Hey Scott
Last year when we were gone for two weeks we got a special use permit for the Swinomish slough for the 17 days total we were out. It worked great.

Same boat indeed. I've had a few issues early on, but since then it's been an excellant boat.

I'd love to see you come on up. You're welcome sooner than this trip too of course.

Now that I've found the new site, yes I'm up for it in 2010 if the time works out for us. We have a commitment in S. Cal in early-mid July.

We just got back from 11 days cruising the San Juans and Gulf Islands. Perfect weather, couldn't ask for better! We even had a light show one night in Ganges with just enough rain to wash the salt off the boat.

This is a great cruising are and one I can afford to undertake. Cap Sante Marina will sling you in for about $75 both ways depending on size and $30 a week for parking.

I put in at Washington Park and had a H*ll of a time getting a parking spot. Cost me $80 and a broken tailight. That deal at Swinomish Channel sounds pretty good.

Any solid plans yet for a 2010 Cruise in the San Juans?

We're still planning to come ALLLLLLL the way from the other side of the state. I think we're good with the last full week of July at this point. One week, two if we're lucky!

Hi Chris
Nothing really has been formed yet. My schedule for summer is a little in flux now, but I know I'll be up there most every weekend. Right now I have slated the end of July and Early August for a long weekend(July 29-Aug 2nd). I don't have an extended trip on the schedule.

If you guys volley in a time as I'm sure you want to be up there longer I can more than likely meet you on a long weekend.

We just making our plans:

We have the last two weeks of July open and could stretch it into the first week of August. Earliest possible departure from Sacto for us is Saturday afternoon July 17th. Plan to allow 2.5 days to drive the 850 miles to Anacortes. Probably stopping overnight in Grants Pass and Olympia with a final 3 hr push to Anacortes after the Seattle rush hour(s).

Step 1 is done: we just submitted our passport applications.
