Okay guys. I was at the Sea Ray dealer this weekend and they have a great boat on consignment. It's a 2008 260 Sundancer with a 350 Mag, Bravo 3, and with Genset and A/C The boat has 80 hours on the engine. It has the dark blue paint that looks like it's been maintained and polished well. The boat is in excellent cosmetic condition, and the dealer says the boat has been religiously maintained at their shop. They want $54k out the door without a trailer. What do you guys think? Is it worth it?

Not a bad price considering what new ones cost.

If I was listing mine today 2006 with black hull, 6.2L engine (285 hrs), generator (47 hrs), and trailer I would ask $55,000. I have been considering a move up to a larger Sea Ray but this one fits in my covered lift/slip and just does everything so well. Plus I trailer mine and have cruised in so many different places because of this.

Again I would hope the 2008 with gen is worth $54K but the Blue hull will take some work to maintain and some don't like the blue at all which could hurt resale....I'm sure some don't like my black either but I do.

Good luck.

Seems fair, below nada and less than some others on boattrader.
But, it needs to be worth it to you..
If it fits the bill and that's what you want....price looks ok to me.
Good luck boat shopping is soo much fun.

Pretty good price, I paid 52 for my 2007 with just about every option except a windlass a few months ago (5.7 B3), it also included a trailer. It had 150 hours on the engine and 100 on the generator.

It was maintained well mechanically, all the service records are there and after 60 hours so far only issue I have had is the generator leaks a little oil. Cosmetics left a little to be desired but I think that was more from sitting on a dealer lot for 1.5 years then the previous owners. I felt I got a fair deal and only had to travel 10 minutes to buy it and see it, was nice to be able to spend a few days looking it over myself before I bought. Sometimes it being close by is worth a premium so you can look it over several times before you buy or invest in a survey.

But whatever it costs if its worth it to YOU thats what matters, on the internet everyone is going pay less than you and their new boat will be cleaner than any other for sale. Best to look around at listings, realize those listings are ASKING prices and everything looks good in pictures.

Price wise they are right on target - I paid the same for a 2007 260DA with 80 hours.

I would have them change all the fluids, service the generator, and clean all filters. I would not assume that all mechanicals are perfect even with 80 hours. You may not need a full survey done, but a full mechanical inspection would be a good thing to do.

I think that is a great price compared to what we are paying up North. I just bought a 2008 with 60 hours with a new trailer and all the options except a generator for 60k. I shopped for 6 months to find this one. The boat was purchased new in 2010 as a leftover from a bankrupt dealer by the original owner who turned around an bought a new 320 Sundancer. Go for it and enjoy!

If you can get the 280. Much better ride. On the 260 your going to be correction the list all the time. I sold mine after one boating season

It means youll need to pay careful attention to how you load or you boat will "lean" to one side or the other.

You can correct with the trim tabs, but you'll probably be constantly adjusting.

It sounds like a fair price to me but does it have closed cooling? Your location is described as the Gulf Coast so I assume you will be running in salt water. I would not buy a boat that doesn't have closed cooling if I was going to be running it in salt water.

It doesn't. It has sea water cooling. I didn't know that closed cooling was available on that model. If it is, being in saltwater, that is definitely the way we need to go.

Most new boats sold in Salt Water areas have that option and most dealers will order their new boats that way. There are plenty of used 2005-2008 260DAs on the market with this option.
