I have a deal working right now on a 2012 Tundra (used) with only 2800 miles on the ticker. It has the 5.7 liter V8 in her. I'm trading my 06' Tundra in on this newer one.

Question, how is your gas mileage with this bigger V8? On the sticker it says it gets up to 14 mpg in the city and 18 on the hwy. This is scaring me back to the 4.7 but in a newer model.

Your thoughts / input...

Who cares, if you can pull the Space Shuttle...:) To me it's function of how many miles you drive.

Good Luck,

Don

I have a 2010 tundra with the 5.7 . Driving back and forth to work which is half city half rural roads I average about 17 mpg. On the highway I'm around 19. With the boat going over mountain passes from Calgary to Vancouver I'm at 9.5 mpg

I’d believe it. Just bought a 2012 Ram 1500 with the Hemi. Highway mileage is OK, but hell I don’t drive highway all the time. So far average is between 14 and 16.

best rule for the EPA sticker
divide by .66 and you will be close to thier "prefect condition+ prefect driver" estimates
they are truely unrealistic

If I “divide by” .66 I would really like those numbers. I know what you meant though.

I have an 07 regular cab, long bed. In town, everyday driving w traffic an d red lights, I get 14.5 mpg. On the highway 17 to 18.5 with nothing in tow, 70 -80 mph.

Pulling my 240 Sundancer, 8 to 9 mpg. All these numbers are for "normal driving" no babying it, 70-80 on I-10 if no traffic around, and running slower, about 60-65 in the TX hill country.

I've tried leaving the tailgate down, setting the auto transmission in D or in S5/S6, normal or towing mode, etc...none of that seems to change the gas mileage.

Well, I've had her all weekend (good friend is GM) and I absolutely love her!!! It's a 12' Platinum CrewMax Black with Red Rock interior. I'm gonna do the deal probably on Wednesday or so. I was gonna trade in my 06' Tundra but I have soooooo much aftermarket sound and crap, that I don't feel like taking it all out then peace mealing it out. So, I'm gonna trade in my 06' Sequoia and just sell my Tundra out right. Also, I will be getting a few more bucks for the Sequoia.
