I am having one shipped to me from MO to TX and I want everyone with a 320 or 340 to add me as a connection so we can trade ideas.

Pretty sweet boat.....has 58 hours on it and 15 hrs on the generator and paid $115,000...seems like a good deal what do you all think?

I'm in the market for a 2003+ 340 and for an 06 $115,000 seems like a pretty good deal. How did you find the boat? I've been searching on yachtworld and boattrader.

If it has 350's it is underpowered and I would not want it. Anything larger than my 320 should have at least 7.4's...IMHO

Were 350 MAG's even an option for a 340? I think the 6.2's were the smallest you could get, but I might be mistaken. Considering that the 340 is underpowered with the 6.2L, I would think that the 5.7L 350 MAG would be a disaster.

350's were never offered on the 1st or 2nd gen 340. And its a good thing, too.

I am assuming the boat is a 320. Not sure if you had a survey done. Sounds like you got a good price. I would plan for a few maintenance items due to lack of use. I always think it is ashame when someone owns a boat that they only put 12 hours a season on it and 3 hours a season on the generator. Hopefully you can put some hours on the boat. Enjoy it. Sounds like you got a great find. Did you pick up the MM 320 with the stainless windshield and the dark colored hull?

Yep, sounds like the same one, black hull......i spoke with the surveyor today and he said typically there are not a lot of problems with under usage but we will see...i have the survey scheduled for next week and am flying up there to be there for it.....any advice on what to ask pertaining to the low hours?

Also, the surveyor said that he pretty much goes through everything on the boat and then pulls it out to do a hull inspection. Should I get compression testing done by the dealer? The inspector said that if we marine test the boat and run it wide open and it runs at top speed, it is usually an indicator that all is good......advice?

From my experience:

Make sure you remove every cushion on the boat and look for water intrusion. I had a problem with the GFI in the bathroom and discovered the compartment in the aft cabin that holds the central vacuum had 4 inches of water in it and the vacuum was tripping the GFI. I had to replace the vacuum. I think I paid $200 or $300, Sea Ray wanted over $600.

My water problem was caused by a loose trap in my bathroom sink, which allowed water to run down the hose and collect in the aft cabin.

I also found a substantial amount of water that was trapped in dead space under the driver’s seat. I drilled a hole to allow it to drain.

Also, ask if the re-call fix for the catalytic converter exhaust was done on the generator. You can take the serial number and contact Kohler directly to find out.

It is a good idea to bring a camera and take pictures of everything. Try to take pictures of as many serial numbers/ model numbers as you can. You will need to know serial numbers for the engines when you insure it.

Run the generator under load for some time. Turn A/C, water heater and see if it runs smoothly.

I will do all those things. Thanks for the pointers....its actually my first cruiser so this is helpful. Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Hello, I have a 340 2004. Just got it a few months back. I love the boat! It does suck the fuel with your foot in it.

Enjoy

Mike

I'm there for you if you need me- I got 312 hours on the 350 Horizons-164 hours on the Kohler Gen.-when I bought the boat 60 hours on the engines and 15 hours on the genny-stay on the hook a lot and be safe!
