I am looking at a 2006 Sundancer 280 with twin 4.3 mpi's / alpha gen 2's. The boat needs complete maintenance work (manifolds, risers, tune up, impellers, bellows, ect...) as its been on the hard for a few years after a divorce. I got the guy down to $25,000.00 but the real issue I see is water in the forward bilge which looks rusty and like its been sitting in there awhile. does that drain into the engine bay or does it have to be pumped out? Someone left the main hatch open, although it was covered and i assume thats how the water got in. Are there any systems under the floor in that area I have to watch out for having been submersed? Its enough water that the carpet on the floor needs replacing. Thanks for the help!!!

Sounds like a great price if the boat doesn’t need too many major items. The forward bilge area under the steps does not drain to the rear so that will need to be drained or vacuumed out. The only bilge pump in the cabin area is inside the sump box for air conditioning condensate and shower sump duties. If you haven’t already checked out the 280 thread, there is a wealth of information spanning many years there that was a huge help when we had our 280. It’s an absolutely fantastic boat by the way, we loved ours. Best of luck to you!

thats where the water is. THANKS! I'm going to look a bit closer tomorrow. I appreciate the fast reply and I will scour that thread!
