Looking at a Sundancer 240 that has the head that looks like a Port-a-Potti. The wife hates it and prefers the one that looks like a regular toilet. Is it possible to change it to the one she wants? Could be a deal breaker for me. Its a nice boat, clean, trailor and new motor. Gotta keep her happy...Thanks Bob

Dometic makes a marine portable The Dometic 976 that works like a pressurized toilet and you can set it up with pump out attachments. I had this in my 230 wk. it works by pumping up the water tank then when you need to flush it you just push a button and the water runs under pressure no more pumping to get water to fill the bowl. As the clear water tank is used you just have to pump it a couple more time to re pressurize.

I've looked at the Dometic, seems like a good option. How did you convert it to a pump out head? From what I've seen on some of the videos its not mentioned at all. Does Dometic off what's needed? Thanks

Converting to a VacuFlush system (regular porcelain toilet) is very costly and quite involved. It may be even more challenging, depending on what model year 240DA you have.

As far converting to a pump-out - buy the "MSD" (pump-out) version (there are a couple different ones that could work) of the porta-potty, drill the topdeck of the boat for the pump-out fitting and vent fitting, then connect the hoses from the fittings to the toilet.

Edite: "Porcelain"

You can switch it out for a electric toilet. When we had our 260DA it had the porti poti. We switched it out for a electric toilet and a holding tank. It is a fairly easy install and much less costly than the vacuflash system. If you want to save a little money you can even go the the hand pump model. If you did the hand pump model with a holding tank it would cost you less than $400 if you did all of the install.

Have been thinking about adding one of these to our boat. The porta toilets were found to be more of a pain than they were worth. There isn't a lot of room to give up in a 24' for a full system. Was initially thinking about just pumping over the side since we trailer and only boat in remote areas. Maybe setting it up with a portable holding tank stowed under the rear deck would be a better option.
Someone out on the swim platform at night has always been a concern for me. There is usually a decent tide flow when we are on the hook.
