Re: 1st Annual Dominic Annunziata Memorial Rendezvous -Farley State Marina, Atlantic

I look good to Cape May, so the last 40 or 50 should be a cakewalk even if it is blowing a bit. Underway no later than 6:00am. ETA in Atlantic City is 2:00pm.

Got the IAC replaced using my spares and picked up another to replace the spare I used. Damn thing melted at the end where the electrical plug goes in. It is a good thing I had my Diacom software and the laptop. Pinpointed the problem exactly by reading the codes. That is the 2nd time I have been able to diagnose and repair with no down time using the Diacom software.

Friday still looks good to me! Sorry if anyone gets rained on while heading that way but boats do get wet right? We are getting pretty amped to head out there tomorrow night. 9:30PM PST flight out, 6:00AM EST arrival in Newark and hope to be inboard Mustang between 7:00AM to 7:30AM then on the way to AC! I may be dragging but I'll sleep when I come home. I hope for good surprises, good times meeting everyone and good weather. The rest is easy!

Humph,

I think it's friggin awesome that you are coming out from Cali! I wish I was able to head that way to meet you guys! If it wasn't so close to our trip I'd drive out there by car but unfortunately I'm jammed with work & trip preparations. Have a great time & enjoy. These guys know how to party!

Rolled in here around 1:15pm. . Dom would be proud of Pokey getting here first! Jeff Siegel arrived about 45 min after me and Rod Knecht about an 1/2 hr after Jeff. Jeff took the outside and surfed down on 6-8 footers. Rod and I did inside and took 3' short period whitecaps from behind and beam to (zig zag ride along the ICW). I had never done the inside route but you were NOT getting me out on the mighty Atlantic today. I think I saw 3 boats the whole 65 mile trip.

The bay down by Waretown...

Still around Waretown...

AC in my sights. Yes the weather is as crappy as it looks...

Re: 1st Annual Dominic Annunziata Memorial Rendezvous -Farley State Marina, Atlantic

There's a good chance I won't be coming this year. This will be, I believe, the first time I have missed this event. The boat is ready to go with the jetski mounted, boat fueled up, stocked with food, bottom cleaned and freshly painted, but... I have a water leak in the bilge I've been chasing the past week (I have missed work and don't have a doctor's note). I've been trying to find this damn thing and with the way water wicks, it's been impossible to find and it has sent me on several dead ends. I've replaced hoses, rerouted hoses, etc and I have finally narrowed it down to coming from the back port side corner of the generator. This is where a water heater is up against it and the port exhaust tube is on the far port side. It's also where the exhaust exits the generator and there is no way to inspect it without removing the water heater, isolation transformer and spare props and holder. I also can't run the generator with the possibility of an exhaust leak for this trip so I have to fix it. The water is running out of that area like a hose is on low and only when the generator runs. The water pump and heat exchanger are all fine (with a new impeller) but where the hose disappears into that back corner after the siphon break, something is amiss. In addition to being impossible to reach, there looks to be some expensive parts back there... we shall see. Going to poke an inspection camera back there first.

So... I'm getting ready to dive into this as of this morning and see what I'll find. This pretty much sucks.

If Sea Ray wants some valuable input, don't put hose clamps, exhaust systems, or ANYTHING that will break with time in spaces that can't be inspected and touched easily.

Well, I am keeping your spot on the T head warm...

Yesterday was, well, a bi#$%...I would have rather gone to the laundromat, climbed inside of a commercial washing machine and turned it on for 6 or 8 hours. We have some GoPro video that we'll post up shortly.

It was choppy leaving Baltimore, calm up in the sissy part of the Chesapeake Bay, calm through the C&D canal, calm in the upper part of the Delaware Bay and then it got rough all the way to Cape May. We took a brief rest at Cape May and then stuck our nose out in the Atlantic Ocean and headed north for Atlantic City. We started with 3 -5 foot seas and it got progressively worse. I ended up slowing to about 10 knots, taking blue water over the bow a couple of times and trying to keep from pounding the boat too badly. I think it was about 3 1/2 hours. Probably my most miserable boat trip in the last, oh say, 40 years!

But, we are here.

It looks like the weather is going to calm after lunch for everyone, so we are looking for a good turnout and successful event.

See everyone (except GW) soon.

Gary

Good call on your part. You can't take a chance with carbon monoxide from the genset exhaust. We are sorry you are not going to make it.
