Can someone help me please? I have a battery charger/converter problem.

My Boat is a 1994 Searay 230 Sundancer.

When I connect my shore power to my boat. Turn on the power switch and the inverter switch on the panel in the cabin, ( no reverse polarity & Amp meter working OK ) to charge the batteries nothing happens on the battery charger, ( Guest #2630 30amp charger/converter) there is a Amp dial on the charger which doesn’t move, no noise coming from it either. Is this a problem, or is it meant to be like that? Is there something else in the engine that might need switching on or something?

Also I have a dual battery set-up, and the switch does nothing in position 1, works in 2 and both thou. Could this be because the batteries are dead, and need charging?

Any Help would be great.

With a multimeter.
Check for AC voltage going into the charger.
You can check for juice coming out of the DC wires from the charger also. DC Volts?

The charger should have a fuse.
The chargers Red DC wires hooked to the batterys will most likely have a fuse also.

Charger/Converter working fine now, thanks for all your help and advice.

(was just dirty Battery conections, all clean now)

On a related note I have the exact same boat and am going to install a charger converter. Where did you find space to mount yours?

How old is it?
My old "Professional Mariner" now ProMariner was shot when I bought my boat last year.
It may simply be time to upgrade.
