When we first got it 3 years ago, we had to spring for a new Mercruiser 260. Ended up replacing and upgrading everything else as well. We thought it was a Big boat as it sat in the driveway.
But she seemed a little smaller once we got her in the water.
But REALLY small when people like "This Guy" docks next to us.
This year with my annual spring maintenance low, I've rebuilt a few broken things like the windshield wiper motor, and a lenco trim tab actuator. Then I waxed and waxed the boat. Found the first coat is always the hardest. But I'll do as many as I can this year to kepp it shiny. Going to do an onboard charger next.
Funny thing on the trim tab actuator. It was seized up in the gear box. I thoroughly cleaned it out with brake cleaner and WD40. Then hooked up the motor to test it while it was off the boat. The motor sparked and a huge flame shot out towards my face. Lucky for me I wasn't looking that close when I did it. Trim tab works, and even though I packed it full of grease it's a bit louder than the other side. Hopefully if it gets me through the year, I'll be happy!
Other than the onboard charger, I want to get a smaller VHF antenna. The 8' antenna seems a lot bigger than I need for the bay. I think I'm going to drop down to a 5'. Then hopefully this winter we are going to get all the apolstery redone.
