Hoping someone can give me some help on a wiring problem I am having on my Sea Ray. I keep blowing fuses for my Nav lights. I have tried tracing the wiring b1961ack and checking the lights for shorts. For some reason one of the wires going to the switch is drawing to much current. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Captkirk,
I haven't dealt with this on a boat but with a car I used to have and found it was a faulty ground wire. If you disconnect the power wire and do a continuity check to ground it should read open and when you disconnect the ground wire and check it should be closed. Hope that helps!

Kaptkirk, My 1990 has a on-off-on switch. up turns on the nav lights and down turns on only the anchor light. Do you have the same set up or are they separate switches? You might consider running new wires from a new nav light to the switch. The wire gets brittle with time and does not take much to cross them if the insulation is freyed. My nav light wires are burried in a groove cut in the bottom of the teak anchor platform which must me removed to re-wire. It was worth the time to remove and refinish it but it took some time.
