1979 SRV 207 Makeover Thread

Such a great job! Isn't teak amazing to work with?
About the stripes, I like the stripes off many times.. I don't agree with the taste of the designer who put them there even back then, on my SRV255, and think it looks cleaner and more "classic boat", if not "stock SeaRay", without them. My two cents.

Had to take a break from working on the boat to do some things on my house. That's ok. The ice on my lake is 3 ft thick right now. Picked up another prop to replace the beat up one on the boat. Now I have two good props. The 21 pitch 3 blade aluminum for cruising and highspeed blasts across the lake, and this 4 blade stainless 18 pitch for pulling skiers and tubing.

Supposed to be in the 70's here over the next couple days!

Well, I was debating whether or not to put stripes back on the boat. Part of me likes the clean look. My wife convinced me to go with stripes. Ordered them up! Decided to go with sort of a retro look. Ordered them from BoatUS.com. Orange and blue strips. The carpet in the boat is orange, and my new tow vehicle (which I will get to later) is also orange. I also ordered matching boat name, hailing port, and registration numbers. Should look good! Can't wait to get her ready for the summer. All the snow is off of her, and I need to finish up the teak and get the interior back in.

Great to hear from you Nik. As Oldskool said pictures are needed..

The snow is gone! Lakes are still ice, but the grass is out and I have next week off of work. Hope to get a bunch done. Also have a bunch of goodies sitting at the US/CAD border for me to go pick up for her. :)

Thanks Jason! I'm following your instructions step by step. Still ice on our lake btw! Hopefully get out on the water by the end of May.

Named the boat after my two daughters, Olivia and Lucy!

Love it Nik... how's your woodwork comming?

It's coming along. I have about half of it oiled and ready for the varnish coats. Everything is sanded except for one really ugly swim platform, as you can see below. I'm going to hit the woodwork hard this week, and put the new striping on too.

I did one that looked like that. I bought a box of tide with bleach. Made a really thick paste and took a super stiff scrubbrush and scrubbed the daylights out of it. It really worked great. I made sure to rinse it very well and left it sit in the sun a few days. Mybe worth a shot for you. It will saving you sanding untill you have nothing left.

(Side note if you do the tide route wear gloves)

Well, fired her up yesterday. Sounds nice! :smt038

THe interior is going back in, so my first mate decided to try our the rear seats. As you can see, the console / engine cover panel is missing. I took it off because it was in horrible shape. I don't know why everything else is solid teak on the boat, and that piece is crappy plywood.

Here's my new piece with the old piece in the background. I didn't have teak, so I made it out of maple. It's all cut to size. Just need to drill the holes for the drink holders, sand it, oil it, and varnish it.

Looking good, had my 82 out last weekend for walleye opener, only caught northerns.
of course forgot camera though. Thinking you could double the number of drink holes
for the rear facing seats or ???
