17 Hours and Trim switch dead?

Hello all! I first tried to search the boards for a similar issue but with not luck..

07 185 Sport 190 4.3 with 17 hours on it. Went out for a half day cruise raised and lowered the motor several times (first getting in, shallow anchoring, then docking again). No problems! About 5 hours later went back for a sunset cruise and the trim button is dead? No noise, nothing. I tried to trace the lines for a fuse but couldn't find one. Rest of the boat is fine battery charged, can start the engine.. no problem.

To the questions.
1. Could it be the switch its self that’s gone bad so soon?
2. Boat is under warranty but taking it out, trailer it, and then wait a week or two, lets just say I would prefer a simpler solution if there is one. Is replacing the switch fairly simple?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Do you have a transom trailer switch too? If so does that work?

Dave by that I assume you mean a switch to lift the Out Drive to trailer the boat?

If yes, its all the same switch. Once you have lifted the trim fully through the first stage/Driving trim, you press the same toggle button again a little bit hard and it will lift the drive to be trailered.

And none of it works just dead silence.

I was referring to a totally seperate switch right on the transom itself. A lot of sport boats have them but yours may not. If you did have a transom switch and it worked but the one on your throttle control didn't then I would suspect the switch may be bad or a wire came loose somewhere.

What I would do right now is call your dealer and ask them if there is something you can do to diagnose the problem yourself. If the drive is in the down position, you really can't pull the boat out of the water anyway on a trailer without dragging the skeg on the launch ramp. So your dealer is going to have to help you out one way or another with your boat in the water. Maybe they will send a somebody out to look at it given the circumstances.

there should be a fuse right on the pump

Check your MerCrusier manual page 20. There are two fuses on the pump a 110 amp and a 20 amp. Hope that is it.

I called the dealer as Dave suggested and they said the same thing: breaker/fuse on the pump, but I swear I didn't see it.. Maybe it was the heat.... It was like 96 with over 75% humidity and no breeze.

I will look again and see what I missed. Will report back. Thanks for the help guys.

Edit:

First Born: Will do, For some dumb reason I was looking at the sea ray manual, electrical schematic, not much help. Father-n-law was the one handing over the manuals.

Check the fuse first, if it's not that, then it may have shorted out on you. At least it's under warranty.

I had a situations when it would be dead but then after sometime all was back to normal. In the beginnig of this season I found that it was some rusted connection right by the fuse near the pump. Replaced the fuse and cleaned the connection.

Alex.
