$10 Gas. What are you going to do?

Can't watch my boat TV, It is not digital and the converter box broke.Wallmart stop selling converter boxes.
Can't go on line, marina does not have cable or wifi.
Can't rent a movie, the local Blockbuster is closing this week.
Can't buy a book, Borders is bankrupt.
Can't fish, State of Maryland might not open Rock fish season this spring.
Can't drink, State or Maryland is raising tax on booze.

What are you going to do?

There is always sex...

I don't think we will see prices that high either. If this continues they will go up but I don't think that high.
As for me, I will boat. I am wanted a bigger boat for a long time and we just got it last fall. Two rides before she went to the hard. Annapolis to the Bush River and one other day out on the Bush. I can't sleep for dreaming of launching her. I agree, I'll sit on her, watch tv, listen to music, drink beer and relax if that is all I can do. But like I said in another post - I have a full tank of gas from last Oct 2010. So I am golden for a few trips.
I will not let the world of idiots stop me from enjoying life.

I will buy a whole bunch of black sheets and there will finaly be a good looking sail boat in the area:grin:

Don't listen to Glenn Beck. He is an alarmist. He makes his money scaring people. Democracy in the Middle East is a good thing. Remember when the Berlin wall fell? Well this is the same thing different region. The dictators are falling and the people are taking control. These are people who want the same things that we want; life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The middle east is going to be a whole new market for American culture. Those people over there love American cars, boats, music, movies, clothes, etc. Let's open those markets up and sell baby sell.

Jeez man, if I ever get that pessimistic, I'll go on medication!

- buy a new TV already!
- get mobile broadband
- get an ereader
- Netflix is better than Blockbuster ever was
- brew your own

really

Sorry, I'm usually not pessimistic.

But I listened to Glenn Beck this morning, then saw the Baltimore news at noon. And there is snow back on the ground.

Yes, it is time to throw away the 8 tracks and enter the 21st century.

A brave new world.

Remember....Glen Beck can afford gas and a new boat.....these guys are making a fine living......entertaining us.....we have to seriously filter info these days....there is a constant overabundance available 24/7......

The possibility of an oil crisis is baloney. What are they going to do with their oil, eat it? No matter who is in power, they have nothing else to sell.
So, go ahead and short oil futures! :smt001

The 290 will go in. There is a fine line, price-wise, between storing a boat for the summer and renting the dock and having the boat to at least hang out on. One vacation on the boat is already planned for this summer.
We will probably be using the little open bow more often this summer.
But - We will cross that bridge if or when it happens.

Seriously crushed my excitement for spring... Shesh.

baloney....I agree...let them sit on it for a few days...

Ok you guys time to lighten up over there.

Our city has just had a massive quake which has killed scores of people and bought the whole place to a standstill.

This after a similar quake last Sept .

Portions of the central city have been flattened as well as havoc in eastern suburbs of the city. A percentage of the population will be without housing jobs etc in the foreseeable future.

There is no fuel, water, electricity in large portions oif the city.

Keep smiling:smt024

Barlow, what do you guy's pay for a gallon of gas there? Last time I was in Italy I think it was $5. $6. Dollars a Liter! Hope all's well with you and your Family my friend!

I will likely piss and moan a little, particularly when its time to fuel up! :smt089 And I may spend a little more time at the slip then I would like too........BUT there is no way in hell I will let any politicians or high gas prices keep me off my boat!! As long as I can afford my slip and storage, I will never give it up! Hell, when you watch the news and read the papers, spending time on the boat is the only thing that helps maintain any level of sanity!!!! Even if its just sitting on the boat with a Guinness (or whiskey) talking to my neighbors, grilling burgers....life is sooo much better on that boat, even if the engines never fire!!!! :smt038

Good one, Paul...

Each of the past 3 years I have donated more to charity than I paid for boat gas over the entire season. I'm going to spend the same amount this year between the two. As gas goes up, the donations will go down.

Maryland is pissing me off... I'm gonna buy my booze and my boat fuel in Delaware.

I will:

-Put gas in my boat as I regularly do when needed. Maybe pay slightly more, and maybe bring some KY with.
-Party on the boat and dock all weekend long.
-Spend as many nights as I can on board.
-Go to Chicago for a few concerts at Charter One by water.
-Go to Chicago for the scene boat party.
-Go to South Haven or Saugatuck for a few weekends.
-Many trips to Warren Dunes or Mt. Baldy for the day and back.
-Marina is just getting cable, so I will watch Cable TV on the new flat screen I bought myself for Christmas.
-BBQ as much as possible.
-Spend time with Dock mates.

Can't believe I am saying this, but I am lucky I filled up before the boat came out at 3.55 a gal.

Pretty much a normal boating season, if the fuel cost doubles maybe I'll bring the rpms back and leisurely cruise wherever I go. Probably not though.
