The boat I have now has 1" bow rails. The one I'm getting has 1 1/4" bow rails and my fender hangers won't fit it.

Those of you with 1 1/4" bow rails, what kind of fender hangers do you use?

Links and pics would be appreciated.

wet paint, my Admiral will usually be the one attaching and removing fenders. I don't have a problem tying the fenders on with a hitch, but I would like something that's easier for her to manage.

Having the same problem, and no great solution yet.

My guess is that you will have front fender holders?...the problem is that the holders are on the bow but you will want to hang your fender at the middle and back of the boat for docking and raft up, thus having to move the fenders off the front rails. If so, using an "around the rail" type will require you to pull the rope out of the holder and then re-loop the rope before moving it (assuming you will leave it on the rope in the fender holder. Since I use the Only Mate for that task, I am under direction to find a simpler hook. My preference would be to find something like this adustable slip "over rail" type http://www.iboats.com/Rail-Lifeline...5533808--session_id.608973454--view_id.484433 in a 1.25 model.

Alternately, I think I am going to teach her knots.

It appears that most of the "clips" require you still have to feed the line through and over the rail to correct length otherwise could be pulled off. If that is the case might just as well tie the rope around the rail and forget the clip.

See this is where men are ignorant and get a bad name.....TEACH THEM to tie a knot! There will be plenty of time for them to get up on deck after they clean the head, make the bed, get you a drink and do the laundry.

I'm with wetpaint....if she's spending time learning knots that's time she could be spending waiting on me hand and foot.

There's a reason her nickname is Galley Wench! :wow::smt038

I found this company at the Toronto Boat Show this winter. I bought four of them, and so far I think they are terrific. Lifetime warranty, too.

Never said it worked.....I am divorced.....

In all seriousness...Both men and women should know the basic knots:

Clove
Bowline
Cleat Hitch
Round with two 1/2 hitches

I have four of those and will probably toss them as being more trouble than they are worth. They are designed for 1" rails to begin with, so they do not fit perfectly. Also since my rails have columns, you cannot just slide them up and down the length of the boat to find the right spot. The rope has to be completely pulled through and re-inserted to move it across the rail making the exercise somewhat impractical when efficiency is the object. They look great though.

JediJd identified what I'm trying to avoid...having to remove then re-thread the line through the fender clip every time you need to relocate the fender.

Here's what I currently have on the 330 and I love 'em. They have lasted for years and all you have to do is lift the clip off the bow rail and re-clip it in a new location. Adjusting the length of the fender line is a PITA but we don't have to do that often.

Go -

We had those, but they took too long to adjust for the pumpout dock, rafting with smaller boats, rafting with larger boats, etc. So we switched to the one I described earlier in the thread...

Dennis -

Great video - thanks. I'll add your site to my blogs for review.
