'08 340 Dancer Pricing

FWIW, theres a guy at our marina who bought a leftover 2006 340 last summer (~june 07). I think it was in the $220s when he got it brand new. He barely used it and has now bought an even bigger searay and the 340 is listed for $199K. I think it has <50hrs, and its loaded with every option I can think of -- black hull, all 3 TVs, the raymarine package, and teak cockpit floors. Gorgeous boat, its really brand new IMHO. And there are lots of those deals out there, I can't see spending $300K for an '08 that once its in the water is identical.

I don't think I could buy a new one and take the depreciation hit, but I think if I were shooting for an '08, I would try for close to $250K for a pretty nicely equipped boat. Folks here are correct, if you pay $300K, in 2 years it will be worth <$200K, especially when its about to be replaced and the searay dealers will no longer have them on the lots at MSRP.

Also, if you put the usual 20% down on it at $290-300K, you'll owe ~$230K on it in 2 years and it'll be worth $180-200K. Not a good situation.

Also, walk in there with a cashiers check for your downpayment, ask for an offer contract, write in the number you want, and attach the check. Tell them you're going to lunch and will be back in an hour for their answer. Dealers won't get serious unless they see a check in front of them and they know you are serious.

The boat has to be atleast a year away... Like NEXT spring. Mostly likey will have the 34 and 35 selling at the same time which isnt uncommon. The dealer that didnt order any well.. thats just silly... Its a great boat .

Guys - just wanted to update on my decision. We ended up buying the Four Winns 358V. With all due respect to any 340 owners or general Sea Ray loyalists (of which I was one), the 358V was a no-brainer. We ordered the boat for April delivery with Volvo 320HP V-drives, DTS throttle controls (standard), an additional TV for the mid-cabin, a cockpit TV and an upgrade to the E-series Raymarine electronics. Paid $205K.

I hope this pricing information helps anyone else looking at making the same comparison.

By way of comparison, MM had the show price on their 340DA at about $275K if I remember correctly and the show price on the Regal 3760 was $269K.

I'm sure there was room in both of those numbers to move but I highly doubt to anywhere close to the price we got on what was (to us at least) a much better choice.

Nice buy Brad. I recall reading a review of the Four Winns in a recent boating magazine. I was impressed. Best luck to you.

Congrats.... onthe purchase.

I was wrong about the new 35. ITs in production.... Rumble seat and the walk tru windshield. We're doomed.... Oh and HARD TOP TOO

Congrats.

It seems to be a current strategy for certain dealers to act like its a sellers market. I suppose some think it is better to make $40K on four boats than to pay finance charges on four boat. While others think it is better to make $150K on one boat while paying finance charges on three.

the 330 weighs close to 16k pounds. What is the 350 going to weigh with a hard top? Close to 18,000 lbs?
