I had similar problem. Marina said the person was on vacation. I was in ahury to leave so I bought an entire pump think it was $800. Marina would have charged me more than that to fix the unit. Over the next few weeks on the boat I rebuilt the old one. It took a lot of effort and time. Buy a new...
Anyone know where to get new stainless steel cap. I lost mine and went to West Marine and got a 1.25" one that looked like it would work. The top was correct but the threads were different
We no longer have repeat gust that do not offer to pay. Invited one to go on two week trip with us. Their expectation was "we will meet you at the boat" No offer of payment. Told them do to limitation I will arrange for a rental boat for them. They know how to drive a boat and have applicable...
Anyone know what the cost to dealer is compared to cost to end purchaser. If you watch programs where people pitch their start up company and explain there cost of production to retail cost it is some times a factor of 4.
If it is a 500ML cap based on what I have seen of the duck bill valves you are in a lot of poo. If you have hard 90 degree elbows if they are clear of all build up you got a chance.
Small boats in open water are not fun if it is windy. Boat will take more than you think but you will not be happy. Have friend who took his 27 footer out in open water, cut behind a cruise ship doing 22 knots. It smashed all his electronic to the point he had to replace them. Scared the S out...
A new pump is 1KUS. I bought one last year because I was having problems. I got a rebuild kit including motor and diaphragm and rebuilt the old one. I now have a spare. The overboard pump on the boat is the same as the other two it has 4 duck bills. If you got a new one for 500 tell us where.
Have friend who rents sail boats in Caribbean. He gets beater boats form third rate renters only thing they guarantee is the engine is good. Prices are about 50% of what the reputable agents rent for. No information on who he uses. Sounds like internet search.
White smoke is probably condensation in the exhaust system that is OK. Blue smoke is not good if it is all the time. A blue puff on startup is OK. It could be slight leak in valve guides. Lots of information on this site about exhaust smoke and what the cause is.
As Golfman said keep looking. It took me many years to find a leak. It was a slightly loose fitting. I put pads under the engines and looked for areas of drips.
When we got our boat it would easily do 22 knots. We loaded it up and it did 18 knots. Bigger more powerful engines would probably solve our problem. Load the boat up with all your friends, full of water and fuel and see what it does.
Long ago I read the reason Japan never attempted to land on mainland USA was because every one had a gun in the US. The comment was there was a standing army of 180 million made up of a lot of seniors who knew how to hunt.
Canada at one time allowed people to own guns without permits. I think...
A rad shop can clean test and rebuild the main heat exchanger. As noted Mr Cool has good stuff. Keep one old oil and one old transmission cooler as spares and cut the other two in half and see how they are. I had an oil cooler fail. I was lucky as I just kept adding oil until we got to a marina...
Mechanics have tools we weekend people do not. The boat we have we got in 2005 we have put 3000 hours on it. I changed the risers 2 times myself. The manifolds were leaking water into the exhaust slightly a year ago. I got the marina to change the manifolds and risers. It took them a long time...
