Filling the freshwater tank

I would only add that you should run water in the hose first to purge any stale water. Then fill the tank. :)
There is a fill level in my circuit breaker locker so you can see if you're running low before the big outing. Your boat is much newer than mine so it may be different.

I do. Just "recharged" (aka added salt) Sunday
I spoke to the manufacturer today and they stated that these units typically will not keep the water spots away. What is the positives you have found from having this unit?

After your tank is filled and in regular use, use tank water for daily showers, making ice, etc. It will stay fresh. If our usage was low we would use tank water to wash the back of the boat and cockpit while doing the weekly boat wash. When the boat was clean, the hose water was pretty cold and the hose was well flushed. Then we would fill the tank and be good for a week.

We have been boating since 2000. At first we spent 4 one weeks on the boat. After a few years the water tank cracked at the top. I replaced it and to get the old one out I had to cut it out. The inside bottom had slime IE slippery deposit. We had drank the water and never got sick. I was advised by a few owners that city water was over treated and there would be no bugs in a boat water tank. Based on not getting sick they seem to be correct. We have a water maker and some time we can spend 2 to 3 weeks away from city water and have never been sick. We use the boat water for showers, cooking, cloth washing and drinking. Once or twice long ago we bleached the water system all it did was give us chlorinated water taste for a few days.

Softer water for wife and 3 daughters, better tasting ice. Otherwise no, it isn't keeping water spots away like a reverse osmosis system will. My dockmate just installed a RO system for washing his boat.

here's a tip:

grab an old, glass eyedropper bottle and keep it full of bleach.

Drop in a couple of squeezes of bleach, then fill the tank using an in-line RV style charcoal water filter.

BEST !

Here's another fun tip. The hose you use to fill your tank should be food grade. If you use a rubber garden hose, your water will stink and taste bad for the next 3 fills. AMHIK
