I was finally violated... at least my boat was!!

Well the next marina upriver was hit over the weekend too. More boats more damage. There is a big Four Winns Vista at our marina and he has an alarm on his boat. We believe that is what finally chased them off.

I was finally violated... at least my boat was!!

Our marina is "secure"... at least it is gated. The thought is they came in by water. It looks like they even went thorugh my tackle box. Fortunately, since I just moved here, most of my gear is still saltwater gear and they realized that they couldn't use it so they left it. I suppose it...

I was finally violated... at least my boat was!!

I got a call from my in laws today to say they saw on the news that boats at our marina were broken into. There are only 30 or so boats and there are only a few larger than ours. I call the management and he told me that someone broke into several boats last night and that the old Sea Ray 260...

    Backup For Spotlight

I have a hand held 12v recharchable spot light. Best gift my mother in law has given me. I find it much easier to use than the remote control bow mounted unit.

    Auxiliary outboard

Hotwiring is pretty easy. I have been there done that... unfortunately. Access to the back of the ignition can be the hardest part. A phone call to my SR dealer was all it took.

Rod Holders | My First "Cool Mod" to my 260DA

WOW! That is really slick. It looks functional and sleek. I have to keep these in mind!

Getting worn out taking canvas on and off!

I agree with many others here. I use the cockpit cover unless I have been out in the rain and return to the dock with the camper up. The cockpit cover goes on in under two minutes and it is easier to take off and stow. Keeps the boat clean and dry.

Do you lock your cabin door?

Has anyone ever tried to get replacement keys from their Sea Ray Dealers?? I have. After waiting 3 weeks for the keys they "had in Stock", I took the key down to my boat and it won't even turn in the ignition. I used to keep my door locked to keep out the occasional vagrant that may be...

    GPS transducer question

I installed a transom mount transducer a few seasons ago and as was said previously, it opens up all of the features on the GPS. I keep mine split screen as well to follow the chart and the sonar. The install was relatively easy.

    Water Depth

It depends on several variables in my opinion. What is the bottom like? Sandy or rocks? Is it a familiar place? Where I used to keep my boat, the channel getting out to the bay was narrow and shallow. The bottom was soft silt that was relatively forgiving (except on impellers). If you...

    New cockpit cover

My cover goes over the winshield and snaps at the base. It is pretty easy to manage. I don't trailer with it on because I never want to know what it is like to lose it!! But I have no doubt it would hold.

Finally Splashed... Shake Down Cruise Problems

Thanks to all for the input. I picked up the part Friday and saturday morning my buddy and I went down to the boat and had the impeller replaced in under 2 hours. I think that after having done it once that I could get it done in under an hour now. The Impeller Replacement How-to-Guide put...

Finally Splashed... Shake Down Cruise Problems

Can I make this repair with the boat in the water?

Finally Splashed... Shake Down Cruise Problems

I launched in the evening after work. By the time I got to the launch, got my slip assignment, got the boat off of the trailer and out on the water there was still daylight. I only took it up to speed to be sure there weren't any significant problems before going out of the holiday weekend...

Finally Splashed... Shake Down Cruise Problems

I moved last spring/early summer and with all of the chaos of starting a new job and buying a house and moving, the boat never got put in the water. So, after a year and a half on a trailer I was finally able to launch her the other night. Got her floated off of the trailer and noticed my...

    New Batteries

Not sure if these are the original batteries or not. I bought the boat in '06 so I am not certain how long before that the batteries were installed. Thanks

    Black run marks

I was cleaning my boat yesterday and was reminded of a problem I have. When the latches that secure my cabinet below my cockpit sink and rear hatch get wet, black water or whatever runs from them and is tough to get off... is the gasket deteriorating? Should I replace it? Anyone else have...

    New Batteries

I got my boat all cleaned and discovered my batteries are dead. I am relatively inexperienced when it comes to marine batteries... I read some information on the differences and I believe I need a deep cycle battery, but I am not real clear how I determine what size I need?? Can anyone give me...

    Splashed This Weekend...

I have been talking to Terry, seems like a good guy. It can be a very small world. I will let you know when we launch... I am sure I will have some questions being new to the rivers. I would be happy to share a beverage! Cheers
