    240 Sundeck swim platform matting

Looking at putting Seadek faux teak matting on the rear and front swim platforms and maybe the entire deck. Seadeck has patterns for a 2006 240 Sundeck which MAY fit my 2008 240 Sundeck but not sure. Anyone out there have a 240 Sundeck with Seadek matting?

    Vacu Flush Question

I have 3 questions regarding my Vacu Flush toilet: 1. Water drains from the bowl with no vacuum on it. I know there is an adjustment to tighten the seal clamp but this might interfere with question 2. 2. Flush ball does not return to fully closed position after flushing. I use a mineral...

    What's the best seat fastener?

I'm working on a Springfield bench seat installation and was wondering what is the best way to fasten a seat spider to the seat bottom substrate which is plastic 3/4" thick. The folks at Springfield havn't gotten back with me but a tech at Wise Seats said they use T-Nuts mounted on the top side...

    Model/Part number for 2006 220 Sundeck transducer

Reach down into the bilge and clean off the transducer and look for the make and model number on the transducer itself. Many of the transducers are made by Airmar and you can go to their website and visually match up what they have with yours. Many times there is a small silver tag wrapped...

    In-hull transducer question

I fabricated a transducer housing out of 4" PVC pipe, suspended the transducer in the pipe, filled the pipe with mineral oil, ran the ducer wire through a rubber boot and clamped it to the top of the pipe. The pipe is secured to a flat area in the bilge using only 3M 4200 Fast Cure Adhesive...

Add a rear facing transom seat to 240 Sundeck?

Does anybody have any suggestions or experience about how to add a rear facing transom seat to my 2008 240 SunDeck? I am considering a bench seat from Springfield Marine, but am unsure about how to mount it. I would like to be able to sit off the back of the boat, feet resting on swim...

Listed below are two responses I received from Mercruiser on the high oil consumption of my new 2008 350 MAG. In the second reply approval for the use of Mercruiser Full Synthetic 20W40 oil is now indicated. Mercury's website, mercurymarine.com now recommends Mercruiser Full Synthetic 20W40...

    350 Mag Oil Consumption

This is the response I got from Mercruiser today! The common oil consumption for the 350 V-8 engine is 1 quart for every 9 - 12 hours of operation at cruise rpm or in 10 -12 hours at full throttle. Changing to full synthetic oil will not necessarily change the oil consumption. If you have...

    350 Mag Oil Consumption

I have about 68 hours on my 2008 240 Sun Deck powered by a 350 Mag/BIII and since the 20 hour break-in oil change I have used about 2 quarts of oil with no evidence of leakage or smoking. Is this normal for an engine with 68 hours on it? This is a new boat I took delivery of in March 2009.

I found holding tank and other black plastic shavings in the strainer and suspect there are more downstream in the diaphragm chamber but ran out of time. Cycling fresh water pump

Called the service dept. today and they said "sounds like a leak. Drop it off for a week and we'll take a look at it." It does sound like a leak but I have found no trace of water tracking, no seepage at any fitting or pressure line, no open faucets or faucet strainers, nothing. I'll check...

    Lowrance HDS-5

It's probably impossible to tell but you may have air bubbles trapped beneath the transducer. Are you getting a depth finder reading? If there is any wood or floatation foam in that area it won't shoot through it. Mfg's. are very specific about which epoxy will work. It you don't have any of...

    Were my expectations too high???

Every new boat comes with a punch list, it's just a matter of how long it is. Everyone is upset when you buy a big ticket item and it needs work right out of the box but I believe this is a systemic problem in the boating industry especially during this econony and what gas prices did to...
