Thanks folks. Batteries are new and terminals are pristine. I also replace the 90amp fuse last year. I was at the boat again today. Started right up. Ran it for a while. No RPM jumping. Shut her down. Was thinking of trying to move her back to the service slip… I limped into a slip made for a...
Hey folks. Hopping to get some input on what happened to me yesterday. 2003 Sundancer 240 with 2003 5.0 MPI.
she was launched Wednesday, commissions, tuned up and a new belt put on by a reputable large marina in my area where I store her for the winter.
Yesterday I ran through my checklist...
Thanks Lazy. You always come through. Stereo memory is in the DC breaker which I turned off. I replaced the float switch this year. So maybe this is just the ECM and Mercathode? Why just batt 2? I have been pouring over the wiring diagram trying to figure that one out.
milk pull fuses and...
Hi friends. I’ve been struggling with my batt 2 charge level. 2 new interstate batteries installed in April. Boat sat in water for two weeks or so and the charge on batt 2 went way dow to where it would not start the engine. I ran her for a while and she is back up to 11.5. Batt 1 is at 12.5. I...
Did you ever find out if that was the issue? I’m having a similar issue where batt 2 is drawn down over a week or two. Also volt meter reading 12.5 in no wake zone then 13.5 while running at cruising speed.
Well, heard back from my marina. Apparently two of the plug wires were swapped when they did the manifold work. The problem solved and I am great full it was not something more significant. Amazing that with two wires switched it ran so smooth and hit a precise rpm. She’s back in her home slip...
Thanks everyone. So she was stored full and I added stabil marine. I have not checked the fuel filter or pressure but I will in the next day or so. There was an issue at initial season startup with the distributer and the plug wiring but the mechanic sorted that. one of the plug wires was off...
Hi everyone. So my 2003 240DA with 5.0MPI went in the water yesterday. She started up and idled fine. Cruised smooth through no wake. But when I opened her up she hit 2500 and would go no further. Right at 2500. Did not seem to bog. Didn’t stutter. Just would not go to higher RPM. No alarm...
Hey everyone. So to close this out I was able to get a used pair of rams from my marina (saved me some money). Hooked everything up and back in business. Smooth movement. Biggest challenge was getting the manifold back in with the new lines (and not cross threading the external lines). Boat was...
So I took it all apart today. Took the rams off the Mercathode and the manifold. Rams were shot. Would not move at all. I took the lines off them and I had to literally hammer them down to get the fluid out. Mercathode was toasted and the manifold was a mess. Lines didn’t look too bad but...
Thanks for the reply Bill. The service manager and my dockside service guy are going to guide me a bit during the process. I went ahead and ordered a new Mercathode. I am going to take the rams off and test (as I need to anyway to change the down hoses). As for the drive I was thinking the same...
Hi everyone! So my 2003 240 DA (5.0mpi +BravoIII) was supposed to be launched last week. Weather delayed that an I am glad it did. Checked the boat this weekend and went to exercise the out drive trim… and it looks like one of the hoses from the pump to the manifold blew or the manifold...
Thanks. I spoke with the marina. They adjusted the cost but it’s still going to be around $4600 (2600 parts, 2000 labor). I should have gotten a clear written quote before they did it. Dumb. Verbally they said I would be at 2800. I would have just done it myself or called my retired dockside friend.
Thanks guys. The job is already done :-/. But talking with them today they already confirmed there are problems with the invoice. Will see what they come back with tomorrow guy said it was going to be closer to 2500 when I had it done but I didn’t get a write up. Dumb. It’s a good reputable...
I know this has been posted but I can’t seem to find it. I just got the invoice from my marina and am scared. Over 5k for risers manifolds and elbows for my 2003 5.0 MPI. Does this seem right? See attached picture for breakdown. $450 for bolts?!? I see this same kit with 2 of everything on...
I know. Maybe I go with a smaller panel. Like a 20 or 30 watt and secure it with snaps to the forward deck is what I was thinking. The boat gets full sun all day. I could fold it up and store it in the aft cabin (against the wall with snaps. That coupled with a good dual bank charge control...
Yup. Thinking about a charge controller with 2 banks. And a 50-100 watt panel. Ideally I would be able to fold and store when in use and lay it out (secured) on the bow when docked.
