Stalled, no prime, no crank

Hey folks. Hopping to get some input on what happened to me yesterday. 2003 Sundancer 240 with 2003 5.0 MPI.

she was launched Wednesday, commissions, tuned up and a new belt put on by a reputable large marina in my area where I store her for the winter.

Yesterday I ran through my checklist, started her, let her come up to temp and then gave her some fast idle. I saw the RPMs dip then jump back up a few times. I thought it was odd but Figure it might just have been some air in the lines. ‍♂️. Otherwise she seemed fine.

Was heading out of the marina and the boat stalled. Was not able to get it to start. Turned the key didn’t hear the fuel pump priming and just a click from the starter. Batteries showed 12.4 V. Checked the kill switch. Gear shift in neutral, turned batts off and back on, everything. Nothing. Anchored cause I could not make it back to the dock the. Climbed in the Bilge once it was safe. Hit the fuel pump a few times with a ratchet. Hit the battery terminals a few times and used the wrench on the two slave solenoid contacts above the engine and she started turning over. Was able to get her started and back to the dock thankfully.

My first though is “what would make the fuel pump not prime AND the started not to engage. Seems odd to have had both of those at the same time. Could poor batt connections cause the pump not to prime? I know that can cause the lack of cranking (or the solenoid). And a bad pump or other pump related issue could cause the stall, rpm fluctuations at the dock I say and lack of prime. But both?

it was a good 20-30 mins I tried to get her. Started before “jumping”. Trying to avoid emptying my pockets at the start of another season.

Replace that slave solenoid first, the click you were hearing was probably not the starter but the slave.

That’s what I was thinking. But why would the fuel pump not prime. And could that stop the slave from running the starter?

If everything is dead, no gauges, nothing.
Check the 50A breaker button on the engine. Use s volt meter or test light check for power in and out of that breaker.
If no power on either terminal check if your engine has a 90A fuse at the starter.

Disregard my previous
if it ran by jumping the slave solenoid
Check voltage at the small terminals on the slave when someone turns the key to crank

Double check the batteries, put a volt meter on them and then try to start the motor. I’ve seen 12 drop to 8 very fast

Thanks folks. Batteries are new and terminals are pristine. I also replace the 90amp fuse last year. I was at the boat again today. Started right up. Ran it for a while. No RPM jumping. Shut her down. Was thinking of trying to move her back to the service slip… I limped into a slip made for a 99ft yacht. Started her up again and was just about to cast off when she stalled and went back into that same state. This time jumping the slave solenoid didn’t even work. Just a click. No priming of the fuel pump. No crank just a click. Marina mechanic is going to look at her tomorrow but I am thinking it’s the slave solenoid. It just does not explain the stall and the fuel pump not priming. Praying for something simple.

Is that what the red button is? I tried pressing it, what is connected to that breaker?

Is this an alpha or Bravo drive?

How about just wiggling the ignition key when it’s running?
Possibly a bad ignition switch?

Bravo III. the ignition switch was replaced in 2021 after an absolute catastrophe with the started (a nightmare I do t want to recant).

Following like to seethe outcome
