1983 245 sundancer rough water safe?

I have the big brother to your boat, a 1985 Sundancer 260. My experience with rough weather on this boat is solely on Lake Erie in the western basin, but I've also done some ocean sailing. First I'll say that ocean waves and Erie waves are two entirely different things. I used to regularly...

    Buying a 85 or 86 25' da

I knew it was a 260 when I saw your pictures. Your boat is identical to mine. Hull color, upholstery and interior fabric colors are all the same. You're actually close to 27 feet with the swim patform and bow pulpit. The 250 was similar to the 260 with an overall length around 26 feet...

Congratulations on your purchase. I have an 85 Sundancer 260 that I bought this year and we love it. I'd love to see some pics!

Dinette table aluminum base is broken

Wow! Thanks a lot for the help. Great pictures and great advice. I am familiar with West Sytems. I've done a little bit of repair work in the past. I'm going to get into it this weekend and decide on an approach. Thanks again for the great help on this.

Dinette table aluminum base is broken

No, unfortunately I don't have pics. I'll be up at the boat this weekend and get some. It does not look like you can through bolt is based on my recollection. I will take another look at it this weekend though. Thanks,

Dinette table aluminum base is broken

I forgot to add my plan 'B'. I thought about bracing it somehow. Perhaps someone's done that? Thanks,

Dinette table aluminum base is broken

The base for the dinette table on my boat was broken when I bought it. (it's an '85 Sundancer 260, by the way) Apparently, someone was in the cabin in rough seas, leaned too hard on the table and the aluminum mount broke and pulled out of the floor. In looking at the floor where the base...

    Post your boat's name

Name of my boat is MARINE WOLF, after the troopship that brought my dad home from the Pacific Theatre in World War II. Marine Wolf was a C4-S-B2 merchant marine ship that transported thousands of troops during WWII and Korea. Sometime after Korea she was converted into a container ship...

Successful run over to PIB this weekend...

The Owens story as I heard it from the A dock dockmaster. For those of us there during Christmas in July, the docks were a madhouse and by Friday afternoon, there was really no dock space to be had. I came in Friday at about 12:30 and found there to be no space in the public docks, Miller...

Successful run over to PIB this weekend...

The Menus!! LOL! I guess I fit in the love em category. Or at least entertained. The lead singer has a fantastic voice...a little on the eccentric side though. Anybody there for xmas in July and see the Owens up on shore?

Successful run over to PIB this weekend...

Beautiful boat! In fact, my girlfriend and I saw you over there this weekend and loved the color scheme. I've got a sundancer 260 and I'd like to change the striping color.

    Put-in-Bay this weekend (8/2-8/3)

If there are any island fans who monitor this list, what is the prospect for dockage this weekend? Power Boat regatta has A&C dock. Has anyone been there for the power boat regatta in the past? How busy is it?

    Humbling Docking Experience

I agree with the consensus. Fine job! I've had plenty of "go arounds" myself. I have no regrets about backing the boat back out when things start to get out of hand. For those of use who actually take our boats out in challenging conditions, getting her in the barn may not be pretty...

    Aquapalooza Kelleys Island

I agree. I don't think you'll get a mooring ball on Saturday morning. The only think left on Saturday will be the public docks.

Convertible Top Wanted! 85 Sundancer 260

Well, I already have a bimini with the aluminum frame and I also have a cover. Here are my problems with the current arrangement: 1. The Bimini top is made of vinyl and doesn't really match the boat. It's a greyish color and the boat is tan hulled. 2. The aluminum bimini frame seems kind...

    WANTED: 85 Sundancer 260 Canvas/Convertible Top

I've probably got a snowball's chance in hell, but before I cough up $3k for a new convertible enclosure for my Reagan era boat, I thought I'd throw it out there. Who knows, maybe someone has upgraded to a bimini top and has an old convertible enclosure/frame. It's an 85 Sundancer 260. Condition...

    New member Sandusky Ohio

Welcome. I just bought an 85 Sundancer 260 a few weeks ago and we've been having a ball with it. Although we're over at Port Clinton with the boat, my father lives in Sandusky and I used to be at Battery Park. I'm an addict. All I can think about is that damn boat.

No, I didn't see the Sunny-S head out? Where did he go? He left the Boardwalk pier and headed for open water? He's been watching too much Deadliest Catch.
