well after multiple combinations it started ty to everyone. but......lol with one combo it would try to startbut starter would stay engaged another way boat would stay running even without the key in now i remove the little brown wire that i thought came from the coil guess not...
ou use a little jumper wire and jump across the large Red wire and the Yellow/Red wire the engine should crank. It won't actually start unless the key is on or if you have also jumped the Red to the Purple lead. If the engine cranks when you jump the Red to Yellow/Red lead; but it does not crank...
There is a circuit breaker small with a red button located just behind the carb. The wires going to those posts light up but the button does not come in or out it is stationary. Is there a chance that it could be the problem?
Than you all very much for your responses i did not have time to look at it more today, hope to get on it in the morning. just to answer a few ?? that i have seen when i was cranking it was both prolonged cranking and bursts. dont know if this helps but when i hold the key in the start pos i do...

will do i did put a test light on switch and one contact had pwr another had power when key was switched to start position beyond that i do not know how else to check it
battery was drained and we were attempting to jump it motor was cranking then next thing i know dead. changed the battery then starter solenoid. now i have voltage to solenoid but not on the big post on the starter side? it will crank if i bypass the solenoid

Joseph not that I see, everything checks out with a test light with the exception of that post. I thought possibly I had it h/u wrong or neutral safety switch??
