Hey heres a quick question i have a 1999 340 twin 7.4 raw water cooled the port engine the over heat alarm goes off even though the temp gauge reads 170. i have checked engine with heat gauge and no part of engine is over 165 degrees. i assume the sending unit for the alarm is bad i also assume...

i have seeen this done both ways towed with motor in the water and with motor out of the water... which way is right????

problem solved..........too much oil in it= some oil in carb...cleaned carb...fired first pull ran like a top... thank you all enjoy the weekend

okay vent cap open.......plenty of water from cooling tube......wires seem to be all secure......still the same problem..............thank you all for the tips.......float or needle valve????

hope this is the right spot for this question. i have an 07 2.5 mercury 4 stroke outboard. always dealer maintained,and well cared for. i filled the gas tank before using it this weekend.. what happens is this...it will run for 2-3 min with no problem throughout the full range of the throttle...

i an having 2 oil issues on my starboard engine....i am sure that they are somehow related. but i am not smart enought to figure out how. issue 1, i lose approx 1 quart of oil for every hour that i run above 3200 rpm. however there is no oil that i can find leaking from the engine.....the bilge...

las tyear befor i bought this boat on the advise of many CSR members i had the dealer replace the entire exhaust system. (manafolds,elbows risers , and mufflers) so hear is the question. temp gauge reads 170-180 and always has.....but when i touch elbows or risers they are warm to the...

so i spent a few hours yesterday cleaning the bilge in the process i tryed to find the limber holes on the outboard stringers......(the stringers that the outboard side of the engine mounts to, the space to be drained is the void space where the raw water intake sea cocks are) i tryed to locate...
