iron exhaust manifolds-how long do they last?

The stock Merc cast iron exhaust manifolds - any ballpark figure on how long they last in freshwater? I have a 1990 Sea Ray 220 Cuddy with the 260hp merc and just under 400hrs. It appears that the exhaust manifolds and risers are the original and I'm wondering if I should replace them before...

Overall length of a 250DA and trailer?

Want to make sure a 36' building is deep enough for a 250 DA on a trailer with the outdrive up? Seems like it should be, but just thought I'd ask to be sure.

    Moeller fluid extractor

My oil filter is down under on the side of the engine. Very little space. Have a hard enough time getting my arms down there to reach it let alone bring a filter full of oil up out of there. I put a bunch of paper towels down first. Any better way?

    height of 250 on trailer?

Thanks for all the replies. The door size I am currently thinking of is 10' x 18'. I wasn't sure how high a 250 would be. My current boat 1990 220 CC would fit, but I am really thinking of a mid to late 90's 250 Sundancer as my next boat. The 250's seem like a nice "all around" size for inland...

    height of 250 on trailer?

This may sound like a funny question, but I am getting ready to have a 24' x 36' x 12' high pole barn built with 10' high door and would like to know if a 95 to 2000 250 sundancer on a trailer will fit through the door?

    OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

I'd suggest just going right to the 240 or 250 size boats. I think if you go to a 215 then your just going to end up wanting to move up again. With a growing family of 4 I don't think a 215 size will give you the room that you want. A few posts above Anderson states that they don't have any...

    Prop Pitch Question

I agree, sounds like a load of BS. Aside from 24 pitch what was your original prop - aluminum or stainless? And what did he "replace" it with? If you liked the way the boat ran before and it was pulling it's rated rpm's, I'd want the original prop replaced.

    OFFICIAL 250 DANCER THREAD

I'd like to hear some about how these boats perform. Top speed at what rpm, curise speed at what rpm, how they handle x size waves, how they do at watersports, with what size engine. I'm starting to kick around ideas about my next boat and these (mid 90's) seem like they might be a pretty...

    Moeller fluid extractor

Bought one of these Saterday and changed my oil. It worked great. They include an adaptor that screws onto the end of Merc dipstick tubes. 12-15 pumps and it sucked oil until it was full. Emptyed it and reconnected the hose, another 10 pumps brought maybe a half quart of oil out and the engine...

    Mercury Revolution 4 prop

In general you will notice a reduction in WOT rpm with a 4 blade prop of the same pitch as your 3 blade. That is why they recommended dropping down in pitch when going to a 4 blade. Depending on if you are in the upper range of your WOT you may be able to use a 4 blade of the same pitch. The...

    Garmin 430s GPS/Sonar - opinions of?

Tallahassee, thanks for the update and the pictures. Looks good mounted there. How did that RAM mount attach to your dash? I'm going to have to mount mine ontop of the dash; no good spot on the dash to mount it without blocking gauges or switches. That's why I'm thinking of going with this size...

    Garmin 430s GPS/Sonar - opinions of?

Thanks for all the replies. Shoot through or transom mount? I kinda like the idea of shoot through hull mount. How well do these work? Transom mount - the existing fish finder (junk) is transom mount, so I might be able to use some of these screw holes for mounting a transom mount. I think if...

    how to find a surveyor?

Where is a good place to look for surveyors? How is the survey handled in the buying process? Say I go look at a boat. Everything looks good and I'm interested in buying it. Is a sales agreement drawn up then pending survey? How does one allow for some flexibility in price in the sales agreement...

How many hours are too many hours?

From what I've heard 1500 to 2000hrs and it's about time to start thinking of rebuild. I have a good friend who chartered on Lake Erie for some years. He ran charters 5 months out of the year and many days he was running doubles. He was putting 40 to 60 hrs a week on his boat and changed his...
