I have started having some problems with the engine this season with the engine and wonder if someone could point me in a direction. I do pretty much all the maintenance myself and pretty confident working on engines.
Here is the symptoms:
1. It will start, but the die 1-3 times (on average)...
I had a issue this weekend that happened out of the ordinary. I went to our local lake and my boat was full of gas and pulled a skier and tuber for half a day. Went back out and pulled a tuber and idled around and picked them up and killed the motor(half tank). Then all of a sudden the motor...
wow....this is exactly what my marine mechanic had to put on my searay to correct my problem. I ran it for a good 10hours this weekend and it never broke a start bolt. The "Bracket" is the FIX!!!
I can't believe I had this issue in my 2005 180 sport. I guess the previous owner had the starter...
I have had my 180 sport in the shop pretty much the whole season this year. I took it to one marine shop and they charged me $900 to pull my motor to extract a starter bolt stud out of the block(4weeks). 10hours later it broke again. I have been told several times that I am missing the...
I went to replace my starter this afternoon and found out that my starter was only mounted in with one stud bolt. Come to find out the other one has been broken off at the threads. WoW!! Can my local sea ray dealer back this out and retap it so the starter will be mounted correctly????

I ordered the taylor made center windshield for my 180 sport and didn't get the small rubber bushing for it to rest on when it is fully open to rest on. Any ideas where I might can pick one up?
Fixed it! The power wire running to the starter broke off. The metal ring end had snapped off some how. Like when you bend metal back and forth it finally snaps. Crazy!! Always something new!! lol
Still need to figure out why the bilge pump runs off and on every 5min

I havn't had a chance to look at it today. We have been under tornado warnings all day here in Alabama. Plus I need a day to cool down and was hoping to get some ideas off here before I start digging tomorrow. I know for a fact the battery isn't dead because that bilge pump still kicks on in the...
No leak...dry as it can be in the rear/engine compartment! I think it has become a electrical issue. I guess I am just going to have to take it in to a mechanic to track down.
The bilge pump is still kicking on every 5min and running for 3-4sec. and cutting off. If the battery was totally dead I wouldn't think the bilge pump would still run. I am thinking it is possibly a fuse somewhere. I am going to look over everything this afternoon really good. I think my starter...
I dont know if the float is exactly sticking. Because the bilge pump kicks on like every 5min and runs for 3-4sec then kicks off.
I would think if the float was sticking it would continuously run and stay on??
Ok I havn't replaced my starter yet and took the boat out this afternoon. We rode around the lake off and on for about 4 hours and the boat ran great. Went to take the boat out of the water and the boat wouldn't start. I mean not even trying to turn over...not even a the accessory position...
