i emailed humminbird and they say you cant shut it off. you need to wire in a switch if you want to shut it off.

i was just curious. cant really think of a reason why i would want to shut it off. but the directions dont say you have to wire it to a key on wire. it says you can wire it to the battery so in that situation you would want to be able to shut it off.

so should i go ahead and leave the engine running long enough to get water to come out of the prop? that should be safe right? ive just heard that if the impeller in the drive goes without water for even 30 seconds it will ruin it so i have been just starting it up for 15-20 seconds to be sure...
