The Official 450 Express Bridge Owners Club

While I wait for my new clamshells, I had been thinking of how to get rid of the Clarion remote on the dash. Here is my best solution so far.

KUS Guaranteed Clock Meter Gauge 12-Hour Format with Backlight 52mm(2") 12V/24V https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075MDBW16/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_4DJ6GCMKYZ8SV95XJCX1

Prepping to head out to Marco Island tomorrow, then Key West for 4 nights, Galleon Resort Marina with 11 group cruisers from our Club. All systems a go...far as I know!

What are you using to control the stereo? The Fusion wireless remotes fit perfectly over the hole.

Fusion head is already on the helm, so no need to add a remote a few feet away. Right now, if not at the helm, I use the Fusion app on my phone which is great.

I am going to put the Fusion remote in the cockpit for the sole reason of getting rid of the Clarion remote that is there just to get everything updated/congruent.

I have the fusion head unit in the little stereo cabinet on the helm, which is usually closed, so I use the remote to mostly pause and skip. Added another remote in the cockpit in place of an old wired remote and one just outside the transom door. I almost never use the app on the phone.

How do the clam shells attach? It looks like just Xmas tree fasteners? Silicone? I have one that is damaged and might go ahead and replace it. Thanks for the info.

They are just one way trim inserts like on a car. I bought my boat with a broken one, so this is my second rodeo.

I tape off around the clamshell (or where it used to be), put just a little bit of Sika 295 (or 3M 4000) in the holes, a quick bead along the edge that contacts the hull, then just push it in and the one way inserts compress and expand and hold it fast to hull. Use my caulking tool to remove excess and then pull the blue tape. 30 min fix.

In my HIN search I found this very unique 2003 boat: https://www.olympiayachtgroup.com/c...press-bridge-ft-pierce-united-states-5270818/

From the description you can tell the seller cared a lot about this boat with lots of upgrades including a hydraulic swim platform, electronics, upholstery, etc. etc. etc. How about this modification to the cockpit floor! Maybe Sea Ray should have built the cockpit like this at the factory? Engine access would be so much easier! Sorry about the small, low quality pictures, it must be an old ad.

Would love this option, but to modify...yikes!

Old canvas is off and it got too dark to grab a shot with the new bimini and sun shade that I got put back on today. Have two set screws that are corroded in structure. Hope to get those screws loose tomorrow and hang the curtains. Loaner tools came in today for all the fasteners.

It is odd to stand on the bridge with no enclosure, you know, the way Sea Ray marketed the boat.

THAT is amazing, the floor opening. Much better design, access and light. Obviously big parts, like batteries, much easier. For my deck to come out, a giant undertaking. New boats do seem to have much better engine room access.

What's with the allure of a Galeon? There's like 5 in my basin. Here's a 325 and 500. There's a 425 and a 55 too. None with a fly. All helming inside. And the 325 with twin 400hp outboards, with a bow rider config. $549k, Holy Moly!

It's like the Cruisers Cantius. If I had to venture a guess, I think people like the single social space. Same reason Sundancers are so popular. Some will argue it is easier to single hand, which is a fair argument. Others may just be intimidated by the fly or are afraid of heights.

I have to admit, sometimes I am Han Solo on the bridge (doesn't bother me) while everyone else is downstairs. Happens while cruising and fishing.

If you are an extrovert, driving alone is probably not something you are okay with.

Agreed, especially the Sundance reference. Me, I love the elevated visibility and being outside. I get joined plenty up top but by myself is just fine too!
