40 sedan bridge forum

If any of you get locked out of your boat, you can go into the engine room from the cockpit hatch and remove the two latch bolts from either salon hatch door. Then push up. Don't ask me how I know.

Also if the salon sliding door is open with the lock in the lock position. It will close fine and latch the door shut locked. I don't recommend doing this with the key inside the boat. Don't ask me how I know.

Up on the flybridge, we use the under bench storage (we have the 'U' shape layout) to store life jackets. We tend to cram them in.

The life jackets always pick up a white residue. The fiberglass in the storage area always feels slightly tacky. Does anyone else have this problem? I was wondering if fiberglass paint would fix the problem?

While the white gunk comes off with acetone and a bit of elbow grease, it would be great to solve this issue, and be able to utilize the storage space fully.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
tks

Dave
I don't see that. I just see little black mold dots on my vests in there after a while.

I keep a spare key hidden on the boat.

If you put the sleeper couch down on the port side there is an access door that is hidden behind the backrest.
Thanks Pierpressure!
You were right! The back of the salon couch lifted up and there it was!
Now, how the hell does it work?
It has power at the plug, and I plugged the hose in both ports.....nothing...is there on/off switch somewhere? B4800490-9A01-421F-98AC-5B471D6FF698.jpeg3B6A78E7-FD2D-46CA-800B-7D769743488A.jpeg

It's plugged into an outlet powered by the "Port Systems" switch on the switch panel, by way of the GFCI outlet in the guest head. Make sure that gfci isn't popped.

The vacuum itself behind the couch has a power switch. But with the switch off, and plug in the hose, it should come on automatically. If you notice the hose has a metal collar where you plug it in.

When I got my boat, the vac wouldn't work. So I removed the unit, took it apart at home on the bench and found the transformer inside (the part that energizes the vac from the hose connection) didn't work.

Found a replacement transformer on Ebay (about $25) and repaired it. While I had it out, I sanded the canister and repainted. Vac works great now.

Shark has a remote vacuum set also if you want to replace it with one of those. Someone on CSR has already done that and if you use the search function here you can find that thread.

Thanks
It has power to the outlet, I’ll check for a switch tomorrow.
I’ll try to jump the connection points to see if the hose is not making proper connection.

Somehow I think we are all missing out on an epic story here.

Small things make me happy. Earlier this year I added an Axiom 12” plotter and AIS, connected via a NMEA2000 network. When cruising the Axiom would display “Depth —:—“ on the screen. Not a problem because I had other places to see the depth. But it bugged me anyway. So I got a Raymarine ST to STng converter, a field-installable NMEA2000 backbone connector and got to work. My old ST60 TriData has an open ST port so I connected it to the ST to STng cable, plugged that into the STng backbone and built the cable from the STng backbone to my NMEA2000 backbone. It works and depth now shows on my plotter. Small victories!

Hi, looking at a 2000 400 Sedan bridge, but looks like there is contradicting information on the web.

Full cored hull or fiberglass or depend on the boat itself?

Thank you!

I won't ask but while I had the hatch doors in the salon open for servicing I did make a mental note that there was a way in, around a locked sliding door, if I ever needed it

One final thought. If it winds up being an insurance claim, I would inquire about having it towed to the yard via BoatUS or SeaTow. I would think that would be covered.
I added the cross over pipe for the drip less seals and drove the boat 58 miles with only the starboard engine running, A little difficult handling in tight quarters with a wind, like getting out of the marina and locking through the dam but managed to get it to the repair shop without issues and no scratches, Thanks everyone for the suggestions and assistance

Does anyone know what the three bilge pumps are rated for in the engine room? I am thinking about replacing all three.... I am sick of the alarm at the helm and killing my batteries. Have any of you replaced any of the pumps? It seems like it would be pretty easy.

Mine are the Rule 2000.

Mine are the Rule 2000.

OK, I have to jump into this bilge pump discussion because like Johnny, my alarm panel at the helm is annoying me greatly. When underway, I keep getting the alarm "Forward Bilge Pump". Fortunately, the audible alarms are either turned off, or not working. That's ok, but I hate the Sea Ray Monitor (yes, mine still works) flipping between "All Systems OK" and "Forward Bilge Pump" alarm. So my question is: WHICH is the forward bilge pump? Sounds silly, right? But I've gotten conflicting information.

Is it the one most forward in the engine room? Or is it the pump in the sump box (which is further forward than the one in the engine room)? Or, is there another pump somewhere? This is truly driving me nuts!

Thx

Similar to Steve - I get an "Emergency Base pump" alarm while cruising... Only for a few seconds at a time. Which pump is that?

According to the owners manual the forward bilge pump is the one that's forward in the engine room.
