I'm hitting about 4200 rpm with the out drive trimmed. It does have a really good hole shot, and the boat doesn't feel heavy. My Clymer's manuel says redline is 3800 to 4200,which seems low to me.I'm getting a little older now so I no longer need to go mach 1 on the river, but 50 on on a 18 ft boat...
Does anyone what kind of top end I should be hitting? I had a searay with same year but was a 19 ft with the same engine that would top out at 48 mph (fully trimmed out). The searay I have now is 1 ft shorter, lighter and does about 44 mph.And it has a stainless prop. The 19 ft didnt and was still...
Like an idiot I disconnected the exhaust hose that runs from the transom to the sterndrive and I can't get it back on:smt089.Do I need to pull the outdrive? Is there anyone who can offer advise?Any is appreciated.
When I first posted this thread I made a comment about Bayliner being a throw away boat in the 80's.I want to make an apology to anyone I might have offended. It wasn't cool of me at all to bash and truthfully I meant only to comment on Searay's seeming decline in quality.I take a lot of pride in...
I had a 78 srv 195 equipped with an OMC outdrive and a 351 2 barrell, and while your 350 is pushing a little more power,my boat could go close to 50 (not checked by gps) fully trimmed, you could expect about the same.I too like open bow set up boats.I'm 35 so I had little problems getting out of...
At idle to about 1200 RPM's I cannot keep the engine at a specific RPM.It's an older boat,1973 srv 180 with the 302 ford 188hp.Any suggestions? Also I have a 19 pitch stainless prop and it seems to rev up too high.Would a 23 pitch be too much?
I am very new to this site, and so far I'm impressed with the feedback I've gotten.I was just wondering if anyone had any tips/tricks or experience bringing back a shine. My searay is 38 yrs old and i love it.I bought it for 1400,and I think I got a pretty good deal. It's equipped With Mercruiser...
I was only 11 years old when old Connie Ray sold to Brunswick. At that time all I knew about Brunswick was that they made pooltables and had turned Bayliner into a goodlooking but but basically a throwaway boat, and I was sorry to see Searay be sold to them.Any opinions on the difference in...
I've owned 5 searay's in my lifetime(I'm 35 years old).I now own a 1973 srv 180,and I'm seriously considering buying another one.I found a 1964 16ft searay with a 40 hp Johnson for 250 bucks.The boat needs polishing but the engine runs great.I don't remember seeing a searay this old before,and I...
Thanks for all of the welcomes.I grew up in a searay club that my parents helped start. My dads pride in these boats rubbed off on me,now I've owned 6.The searay club he helped start up no longer exists.Thats why I'm so thrilled that I found this site.:smt038 I will post pics as soon as I figure...
