    220 SRV forum

We have a '77 SRV220. We are in the same boat (pun intended)--engine issues, also a Mercruiser 188--no spark after pulling out of winter storage. Checked battery, plugs, points, plug cables, dist. cap, coil...no luck. Turns over but no spark. Our first (only) boat, bought in '04 from original...

Looking for 77 srv 220 owners manual

Not sure about owner's manual, but several years ago when I bought my '77 SRV 220 I was able to order the complete shop manual online.

    1989 Bowrider 210

Is the 1989 Bowrider 210 a "deep V" hull, or is it another hull design?

    Motor replacement

I have to replace my Mercruiser 888 (1977 302 188hp) in my '77 SRV 220. I have located a good used Mercruiser 888 (302, 188hp) that runs strong and is in good shape. My question is: It is out of a 1977 or 1979 Bayliner---will it fit in my SRV220? Shouldn't it just "bolt right in"? My first...

    Complete re-power of '77 SRV220

Due to freeze damage, I may end up completely replacing my Mercruiser 888---if I can afford it. What are my options for replacing this engine and/or outdrive? Currently has Mercruiser 888 with Pre-Alpha stern drive. What is biggest engine that will fit? Due to age, should I go ahead and...

    GT40 heads

Thanks for the info...that tells me that those Summit " Turbo Swirl" heads are "lighter than GT40 heads"....but does that necessarily mean that the used GT40 heads my parts source is trying to sell me will work on my '77 Mercruiser 888? I don't want to sound ungrateful, and I do appreciate the...

    GT40 heads

I am still trying to source replacement heads for my '77 Mercruiser 888 (302) that had recent freeze damage. I have already heard that 351W heads are an option, but another local supplier tells me I should be putting GT40 heads on instead. Does anyone know if the GT40 (or GT40P) heads will work...

    Cylinder heads on '77 Mercruiser 888 (302)

Since these 351 heads with the smaller head bolt holes were special heads for the 888 would they say 351 or 302? Pulled the heads off of my '77 Mercruiser 888 and they definitely say "302". So are these actual 302 heads or the special 351 heads? If they are in fact 302 heads am I better off...

    Water circulation

Ok, I am lining up parts to replace those damaged by the freezing (351 heads and port exhaust manifold). One of my sources also has a 302 4bbl intake and carb (marine) and he wants to know if I want those as well (good price if I buy the whole "bundle").....since I have it apart, is it worth...

    Cylinder Heads: Marine or Auto

Ok, I am lining up parts to replace those damaged by the freezing (heads and exhaust manifolds). Cylinder heads on '77 Mercruiser 888 (302)

Thanks! The adapters/bushings are the only thing I will need to use auto 351W heads on my marine 302? [edit]: And I use the 351 marine head gaskets, correct, not 302 head gaskets?

    Water circulation

Is there a way to cycle water through the engine without running it? Or what is the best way to test for further leaks after replacing exhaust manifolds and heads and not seeing any obvious/visible cracks?

    Cylinder Heads: Marine or Auto

I thought that you could use automotive heads and that the only difference was to make sure to use a marine head gasket. In tracking down replacement heads, I was told the following by a vendor: "all the ford marine small blocks come with the guide and posi-lock style rockers. You would have...
