Can anyone interpret? I recently had two fuel pumps replaced. Not sure if it related.
2009 Merc. 8.1 Horizon 496.
Thanks for the feedback. I wasn’t very clear regarding the 23 mph scenario. I was not at WOT. I wasn’t sure if I would damage something trying to push the starboard motor hard while the port was under performing so I limped back at 3000 rpm on the starboard and 2100 on the port when all of a...
My port motor is running about 900 rpms less than the starboard. Impellers and plugs have b been replaced. Top speed is only 15 mph when both motors throttled up. However, one time for about two minutes while I was returning to my slip, the port side rpm's rose to normal (I did not touch the...
Took the boat out for the first time this season. Noticed the port engine was running at a lower rpm. While trying to match the starboard motor’s power I realized I had the port throttle all the way forward and still could not get full power. The vessel view showed all metrics were equal...

I’m headed to the boat again today. I will be sure to check for the smell of burning oil. I didn’t think steam would be blue. I learn new things everyday. Thx
I started my engines yesterday after about a three week hiatus. I noticed blue smoke for about a minute coming from the starboard motor. I’m trying to budget for several jobs I would like to take care over the winter. Is a valve seal repair considered a big/expensive job? Assuming the blue...
Thanks for the info. The Genset is a Kohler 5cd. It ran fine upon de-winterization back in April of this year. However, since that start it has run. The impeller, plugs, gas and oil filters are new. The motor cranks and cranks but just won’t start.
Are bilge heaters effective during Maryland winters? I am having issues with my genset and won't be able to get it winterized (motor won't turn over upon ignition) prior to the cold weather. I know that if the marina loses power the heater will stop working but other than that are bilge...
The genset started and ran fine at dewinterization. The next time I tried to run it and since it will not turn over after a few seconds of trying to start. The oil, gas filter and plugs where changed last November. I did not change the impeller. The error code is “OC.” Any ideas?
