Hey Guys,
I am looking for part numbers for the Searay temp sender, 1/4 NPT, not the 1/2" on top of the Cat engine. This one is for running the gauge on the bridge.
I am also looking for the oil sender pressure, I believe it is a 1/8" NPT fitting.
Any help would be appreciated. I see them on...
I am using Windward Power, former CAT guy, basically works only on CAT products and Westerbeke. He is a follow graduate from Mass Maritime, but I graduated years before him, they are located in Fairhaven, Mass. The insurance company is Atlantic Specialty Insurance Company.
Re: Smokey engine exhaust
Hey Guys,
This should be a good read. Well I reported last year on my smokey exhaust and went quiet, not sure if anybody noticed that, but the news was not good. Here is my story for who may be interested, perhaps some things to watch for as well.
During the 2015...
Well the day has come, engine dead and requires pull out from the boat. Final root cause not 100%, but it looks like failed injector and washed out the cylinder in number 4 stbd side. My CAT guys were down this past Friday, found the bad injector, installed a new one, ran it up and nobody was...
Hey guys,
First of all, sorry for the incomplete problem statement. The boat is back at my Marina and waiting for a CAT guy at this point. Here is where I am at. I am getting blue and brown smoke, engine vibration. Non CAT mechanic indicates running on 5 cylinders. Feels it as well. I also...
Hey Guys,
Launched the boat yesterday and experienced a very smokey stbd engine. I noticed engine and felt some vibration especially at lower speeds. Temps and oil pressure were good, fuel supply looks clean. At higher RPM's it seemed to smooth out. I suspect a sticky fuel injector. Any...
I had a similar problem several years ago, I assumed after doing all the checks that the motor had gone bad, even was suggested by Lofrans themselves. Spent a good hour with my fat head in the anchor hatch trying to pull the motor, after much battle, it was complete. Placed the motor in the...
I had the Tides system, after verifying I had flow before my fist launch this season some zinc became jammed into my water line and the unit was destroyed after a one hour run. I replaced the seal with spare seal, but the unit was distorted from the heat. Spare seal ready to go, but had to...
I just had mine replaced. My cutlass bearings required replacement as well. I spoke to Tides Marine and they suggested replacement of both and was willing to give credit for one with return of all parts. Have you used the spare seal located just in front of dripless. The guy from Tides was...

Anybody oot there have any "Watch Outs". Any specific oil or procedures to follow, how hard is it get the strainer out, etc..
Thanks in advance,

Dear all,
My Westerbeke is now making oil, only got one year out of the impeller, replaced it this year. Now the unit turns itself off after an hour or so, I hope and suspect a bad water gear box unit and I am adding seawater, which is not good. However, I hope it is not not a cracked head or...
