I have a 2001 Sea Ray 310 with a Lofrans windlass. There is a toggle switch on the helm functioned. It allowed me to select if I wanted to control the windlass from the helm or the bow where there are foot switches located. The toggle switch when switched back and forth allows a solenoid to click from the port side of the boat near the electrical panel located below the wet bar. I am hearing the audible click. However the switches on the bow have never functioned for me. This was never a problem because I always operated it from the helm by selecting the toggle switch enabling the switch at the helm to function. Well the time has come where my windlass is not working at the helm. The windlass will electrically operate and allow the anchor line to go out but when the switch to raise the anchor does not function. I have to manually crank the anchor up to retrieve the anchor. I did not have a lot of time to fiddle with the switch and problem shoot. I did check the switch located at the helm to verify that all wires were connected and not loose. I also went to the bow and wiggled the electrical lines to make sure that they too work snug and making positive connection. This was all I had time for. I appreciate any guidance one could give to help me resolve the problem. Thank you in advance. Dan

You should have a high amp breaker in the ER. As far as the bow switches there is a 5 or 10 amp pancake fuse located in the anchor locker. Check to see if it's tripped.

I had a similar problem several years ago, I assumed after doing all the checks that the motor had gone bad, even was suggested by Lofrans themselves. Spent a good hour with my fat head in the anchor hatch trying to pull the motor, after much battle, it was complete. Placed the motor in the trunk of my car and noticed that one of the motor studs was loose, I had a local shop reweld the stud to the commutator I believe, $40 bucks versus $150-200 for a new motor, this was 8 years ago. Should be 3 studs for up and down. Just a thought.

It's a ***** to get the motor out and then reinstalled. I had to pull mine and clean out the brushes, repainted and reinstalled. Works good now but I know what you mean.
