    Radar traps on the River

Starting to see Baltimore County Police boats set up shooting radar in no wake zone. I saw them where Frog Mortar Creek meets Middle River. Anyone seeing them elsewhere? I see many boats who, although not on plane, are definitely exceeding the no wake 6mph. I can't really get over 8 or 9mph...

    New Rules of the Road...

At least here on the Chesapeake Bay this weekend. Its called Get out of My Way Unless you want Me to Hit You With My Boat. In 2 days I had 2 different experiences with other boaters that crossed my bow from my port side in no wake zone and one even had his wife on the bow pointing their intended...

    Wet Sanding Gelcoat

I have a 1987 250DA going into season 7 of ownership. Every year I would use heavy cut compound then polish then wax to get a barely decent finish on the 2 blue stripes. Within a month they would look chalky and dull. Last fall I did a test spot that would be exposed for winter by wet sanding...

    Engine Locked up then Not

The first mechanic that winterized my boat had been using it for over 20 years. Besides the last engine only lasting 250 hours it didn't cause any problems:>). Eddie

    Engine Locked up then Not

Hi group. Weirdest thing. First time out after being winterized. Had 2 fresh batteries, cranked starter, engine turned over for a couple seconds then just froze. You could hear solenoid kick nice and hard from strong battery and could see that starter was trying to turn motor. I put a ratchet on...

    39' and 40' Express Cruisers

There are a number of 39 and 40 EC's to see within an hour or so of home. When you say long distances an average trip on the Chesapeake Bay for a weekend would be 30 - 50 miles each way at most, plenty of places under 25 miles for a cruiser draft boat. Handling rough stuff in our 87 250DA is...

    39' and 40' Express Cruisers

Plan to look at late 80's 390EC and mid 90's 40' Express cruisers. Besides leaking windows any other common concerns related to construction or mechanical installations in certain years. Eddie

What is an appropriate $ tip when fueling up?

Our 250DA has been kept in rack storage for the past few years. Some times the yard guys(fork lift drivers) also help at the gas dock/pump out area. Whomever helps me for fuel/pumpout gets $5. Thats for average 40 gallons fuel. There are 6 yard guys and I tipped each $20 additional at Christmas...

    Drinking (?) water holding tank

I also use the Walmart RV stuff- 2 capfuls/25gal? It is Sodium Hypochlorite, similar to regular bleach. Somewhere I read that treating the water is only temporary cure and if that tank of water sits a while it will need retreatment. I get a rotten egg smell when I first run the transom...

Saw this on THT and had to pass it along.

My plan would be to use a cruise ship for bait, shoot 'em with tranquilizer darts, kidnap them and put them to work on the cruise ship. Solves their complaints about no opportunity and will make the other pirates think twice when none of their buddies return from sea. Sound like a plan or is...

    Umbrella Gazebo

Although a little tacky it seems to work quite well. We saw this on another boaters 23' cruiser and asked if it was custom or a universal item. The wife says custom from Big Lots gardening section for $25. I found one on Amazon for $29.95. They are a white bug mesh meant to fit over a 9' round...

86 268DA - Rear Seating Area (New Project)

A little higher would be nice but the 250DA does not fold flush to the transom. My wife's complaint was the seat being too narrow. I added 5" to the width, IIRC from 18" to 23". She was very pleased and it didn't make the cockpit feel more cramped because it has always felt cramped. Eddie

    Electrical Problem

Can you take a look at wiring diagram and tell what does or can turn on when you put the ignition switch in the on position as that is when it is blowing? Can you disconnect one by one some of those items to run down the culprit? I could be totally off base but it could be a wire that is...

    Pressure treated vs Teak wood

I had to replace the single "step" on both sides of my 87 250da 5 years ago. The original teak was crumbling. I bought scrap pieces on ebay and trimmed them to size at my friend's wood shop. Eddie

    85 26ft Sundancer Prop Help

I was just looking at Searay website WRT props as mine has gotten rather beat up and I want to replace. Searay says 15.25 x 15 for all its SB 260hp with Alpha 1, BB got 14 x 19. My 1987 250DA got its best performance when this prop was new, 32mph at 4400rpms. I bought it for $50 in a Boat Us...
